Britain has promised to supply depleted uranium shells to Ukraine. The ammunition in question is to go with the Challenger 2 tanks that have been promised to Kyiv.

The shell cores made of uranium allow for high armor penetration. A side effect of using such munitions is radioactive contamination of the area and its inhabitants, as well as soldiers on both sides.

When such shells hit, radioactive dust is released, spread by the wind and absorbed into the soil. People breathe it in, it gets into the underground water and crops. Such contamination does not give any rapid symptoms, but can for decades and centuries take away the health of the inhabitants, increasing the number of cancer and other diseases. The half-life of uranium is four and a half billion years.

It is noteworthy that very recently Ukrainian officials said that Russia's actions have allegedly damaged the country's ecology. In monetary terms, it is estimated by the Ukrainian media to be $15 billion. However, Ukraine's joy in response to radioactive "gifts" from Great Britain, as well as other actions, including regular shelling of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, show that the current authorities of the country are not at all worried about what will happen to the environment in a few years.

The command of the North Atlantic Alliance does not care not only about the lives of civilians in other countries, but even about the health of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers and mercenaries. The use of such munitions is also harmful to those who work with them: tank crews and supporting infantry.

NATO countries are equipped with a wide range of depleted uranium ammunition. During the fighting in Iraq, the U.S. Army used such shells on a large\ scale. The result was a six-fold increase in the number of cancer cases in the country. Similar consequences were caused by the use of depleted uranium during the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999.
