Wyeth answered that they couldn’t because vaccines are “unavoidably unsafe.”

And so, anybody who claims vaccines are safe and effective, the industry itself got immunity from liability by convincing President Reagan and Congress that vaccines are “unavoidably unsafe.”

Europe’s “48°C Horror That Never Was”…ESA, Media Sharply Criticized For Manipulative Reporting • Watts Up With That?

"The hysteria was started when climate sensationalist media outlets in Germany and elsewhere, like the Relotius Spiegel, uncritically cited a sloppily and manipulatively formulated July 13 report from the European Space Agency (ESA), that first referred to “air” temperature:

Temperatures are sizzling across Europe this week amid an intense and prolonged period of heat. And it’s only just begun. Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Poland are all facing a major heatwave with air temperatures expected to climb to 48°C on the islands of Sicily and Sardinia – potentially the hottest temperatures ever recorded in Europe.”

The original ESA report continued, only later specifying that it was in fact referring to surface temperature (emphasis added):

The animation below uses data from the Copernicus Sentinel-3 mission’s radiometer instrument and shows the land surface temperature across Italy between 9 and 10 July. As the image clearly shows, in some cities the surface of the land exceeded 45°C, including Rome, Naples, Taranto and Foggia. Along the east slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, many temperatures were recorded as over 50°C.”

Meant here were not the standard temperatures recorded at 2 meters above ground level that we always here in daily weather reports, which are much cooler, but rather those right at the ground surface. That crucial difference went totally unnoticed by media and journalists, who reported of new record high temperatures. By the time the ploy was exposed by careful readers, the news had already gone around the world.
Yesterday, the ESA  issued a (vague) clarification explaining the difference between surface and air temperature at 2 meters above ground, yet continued to mislead:

Land surface temperature is how hot the ‘surface’ of Earth feels to the touch. Air temperature, given in our daily weather forecasts, is a measure of how hot the air is above the ground.”

The ESA did not bother to mention how the surface temperature is much hotter than the 2 meter air temperature.

The NOAA web page called “The Sun-Climate Connection” provides the following figure (left). [research.noaa.gov/spotlite/archi…] A study by G. Tsiropoula (National Observatory of Athens, Institute for Space Applications and Remote Sensing, Athens, Greece) – “Signatures of solar activity variability in meteorological parameters”  (Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics 65 (2003) 469– 482) [zeus.nascom.nasa.gov/~bfleck/jastp_… ] provides further regional correlations between the sun and SST’s as shown in the figure below right..  He makes the statement “physical processes and/or linking mechanisms for this association are as yet unclear … current GCM simulations do not attribute a special role to the solar input variations on the climate change of the 20th century”. Both of these sources reference “Reid 1999” – this refers to “Reid, G.C., 1999. ‘Solar variability and its implication for the human environment’. (Journal of Atmospheric and Solar Terrestrial Physics 61, 3–14.)” “The globally averaged sea surface temperatures are plotted with the sunspot numbers (Reid; 1999). Both sunspot number and solar cycle length are proxies for the amount of solar energy that Earth receives. The similarity of these curves is evidence that the sun has influenced the climate of the last 150 years"

"Although the sunspot cycle is approximately 11 years it varies and has generally been getting shorter over the last century. The following figure shows “Variations in the air temperature over land in the Northern Hemisphere (solid line) closely fit changes in the length of the sunspot cycle (dashed line). Shorter sunspot cycles are associated with increased temperatures and more intense solar activity. This suggests that solar activity is at least partly responsible for the rise in global temperatures over the last century” (Professor Kenneth R. Lang, Tufts University [ase.tufts.edu/cosmos/view_pi…])
 
The fact that the temperature – sun correlation is better than the temperature – CO2 correlation indicates the deficiencies of the models in being able to account for the solar influence. Short cycles generate high sunspot maxima, whereas long cycles are characterized by weaker sunspot activity.

Friis-Christensen and Lassen have shown that the close correlation extends back to the 16th century [Lassen, K. & Friis-Christensen, E.: “Variability of the Solar Cycle Length during the Past Five Centuries and the Apparent Association with Terrestrial Climate”, Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 57 (1995)]."

 The next figure shows the temperature data from above plus two of the sunshine data lines from above, for 1960 to 2004. The two comparison curves are for “SE & Central S Eng” and “E & NE England”. Most of the temperature curves show similar almost exact correspondence with sunshine. The averaged regional temperature shows a better correlation with solar than with CO2."
