Slow-moving tractor convoy descends on central London during rush hour: More than 100 furious farmers threaten to cause gridlock in capital as they assemble in Westminster for angry protest over government support | Daily Mail Online

"A huge army of tractors have descended on London during evening rush hour today to protest against 'substandard imports and dishonest labelling' that farms warn are threatening food security.
The campaign groups Save British Farming and Fairness for Farmers of Kent have assembled for a 'go-slow' convoy and drive around Westminster which started at 6pm - with organisers expecting as many as 100 tractors as well as other farm vehicles. 
As the tractors reached Westminster this evening, police had to push back the crowds spilling onto the road to show their support, holding banners and cheering. 
Convoys of tractors have been seen across London waving Union flags and holding signs reading 'no farmers, no food, no future'. Fortunately for their drivers, specialist agricultural vehicles are exempt from Sadiq Khan's £12.50 ULEZ charge."

New batch of ex-ISIS members transferred from Syria to Ukraine: Report (2022)

Since the start of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, hundreds of members of Al-Qaeda and ISIS have reportedly been transferred to fight in Ukraine.

"Dozens of extremist fighters have made their way from Syria's northern Idlib governorate to Ukraine to fight against Russian troops, according to a report by Sputnik Arabic.

At least 87 former members of ISIS were allegedly transferred to the Syrian-Turkish border on 26 March under the direct supervision of the leader of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) armed group, Abu Mohammad al-Julani.

The report indicates that most of the fighters are Iraqi, Chechen, Tunisian, and French nationalities.

On 8 March, 450 HTS militants arrived in Ukraine to join the fight against the Russian army.

According to the family members of the militants, high-ranking HTS leaders have been coordinating with senior leaders of the Turkistan Islamic Party group, Ansar al-Tawhid, and Hurras al-Din groups, to facilitate the passage of the extremists from Idlib to Turkey and then on to Ukraine.

Since early March, the foreign intelligence service of Russia (SVR RF) has issued warnings that the US and NATO are providing ISIS fighters from Syria with special training at the US army’s Al-Tanf military base in Syria, and then sending them to Ukraine.

The SVR statement detailed the history of the secret operation they uncovered, saying: “At the end of 2021, the US released from prison … several dozen Daesh terrorists, including citizens of Russia and CIS countries. These individuals were sent to the US-controlled Al-Tanf base, where they underwent special training in subversive and terrorist warfare methods with a focus on the Donbass region."

Russia attempted to amend the Gaza ceasefire resolution at the United Nations Security Council by proposing the addition of the word "permanent."

Russia's alteration was not applied, and instead the resolution only calls for a ceasefire that lasts until the end of Ramadan.

Historical data on the warmest years suggests a high probability that 2024 will again break the temperature record, similar to what happened in 1877-78, 1980-81, 1997-98, and 2015-16. 

Never before have we witnessed an undersea volcanic eruption with a plume capable of reaching the stratosphere and depositing a large amount of vaporized water. This extraordinary event occurred in January 2022 when the Hunga Tonga volcano erupted. The conditions for such an event are rare: the volcano must be deep enough to propel enough water with the plume, but not too deep to prevent it from reaching the stratosphere. Most undersea volcanoes do not produce plumes at all, which makes Hunga Tonga’s eruption all the more remarkable.While there was some sulfur dioxide associated with Hunga Tonga, the main impact was from water vapor. Water vapor is a potent greenhouse gas, so the sudden 10% increase in stratospheric water vapor in a single day increased stratospheric opacity to outgoing infrared radiation. Unlike the lower troposphere, where the greenhouse effect is relatively saturated, the stratosphere, well above the Earth’s average emission altitude (about 6 km), experiences a much more pronounced effect from the addition of water vapor. Also, the increased stratospheric water vapor content enhances infrared emissions from the stratosphere, thereby cooling it significantly.

The unlikely inverse volcanic eruption of Hunga Tonga is currently cooling the stratosphere while warming the surface. However, this effect will gradually diminish over time as the excess water vapor exits the stratosphere over the next 2-4 years. Figure 2 illustrates the movement of volcanic water from the tropical regions, where the dehydrated air from the troposphere enters, to the mid and high latitudes, where it will gradually leave the stratosphere in the coming years."
