The math on anything like this is rough. Still, if this rate continues, they’re selling $200B/yr in bonds. That gets them from ~$770B to $170B in US bonds by end of 2026.

Conversely, by adding ~$25B in gold per year through official vehicles, they go from ~$160B in gold to $235B in gold by end of 2026.

$235B > $170B. Those lines cross sometime in 2026. That is the moment at which China would have flipped its reserves from US bonds to gold.
