๐Ÿ“‰ Tech stocks slide as AI jitters spook investors

A deepening sell-off in technology shares is exposing how much of the market's recent record run has been built on faith in AI, and how quickly that faith can wobble when the numbers stop adding up. The S&P 500 fell 1.8% on Friday for its worst day since June, closing out a third straight losing week, WSJ reports.

๐Ÿ”ด Intel plunged almost 29%, its worst single-day drop since 1974, after its profit forecast fell short of expectations. The chipmaker warned it may struggle to generate positive free cash flow next year as AI data center demand pushes up PC prices and its own spending rises

๐Ÿ”ด Alphabet shed 12.6% in its worst day on record, wiping roughly $500 billion off its market value, after reporting that its AI investments were burning through cash faster than expected

๐Ÿ”ด Nvidia, the poster child of the AI boom, dropped 4.2%, briefly ceding its status as the world's most valuable company to Apple

๐Ÿ”ด Amazon fell after disclosing it had spent nearly $95 billion on property and equipment, primarily AI infrastructure, and burned through $42 billion in free cash flow over the past year

The common thread is not valuation alone but a growing unease about whether the hundreds of billions being poured into AI infrastructure will ever produce enough profit to justify the spending. As one portfolio manager put it, the market is moving "out of the hopes and dreams phase of the AI trade and into the 'show me' phase." Investors are now demanding evidence that capital expenditure translates into revenue, not just capacity.

๐Ÿ‘‰ The anxiety is sharpened by the political calendar. Tuesday's midterm elections loom, and President Trump has historically treated the stock market as a scoreboard for his own success. Worries about AI are already cutting across party lines, and a market that remains only 3.1% below its all-time high can still become a liability if the slide continues.

Outside equities, the cryptocurrency market absorbed its own blow. Hackers drained more than $6 billion from Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange, in what analysts described as the largest cyber theft on record. Blockchain intelligence firms attributed the attack to a North Korean unit, and Bitcoin fell below $77,000 from over $86,000 earlier in the month. Coinbase dropped 10.6% despite beating expectations, as the crypto complex sold off in sympathy.

Icon of all Saints of the British Isles

The Icon of All Saints of the British Isles and Ireland is an Orthodox Christian representation of the saints who venerated in the region before the Great Schism of 1054. It was originally painted by Archimandrite David (Mark Meyrick) of Walsingham and later revised to correct omissions and improve geographical ordering.
The icon depicts 120 figures, including Christ, the Theotokos, and 110 local saints from England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and associated islands. Key figures include St. Alban, St. Patrick, St. Columba, St. Cuthbert, and St. Bede, alongside universal saints with British links like St. Andrew and St. Joseph of Arimathea.

๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช Mass Protests in Germany and France

In Germany, the Gen Z regelt movement held rallies against Chancellor Merz. Organisers claimed 36,000 participants across Berlin, Frankfurt, and Munich; police counted up to 18,000. In Berlin, ~5,000 gathered at Brandenburg Gate. Demands included lower living costs, education funding, and an end to mandatory military service.

Clashes erupted in Hamburg (water cannons used) and Cologne (police halted march after stone-throwing).

๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท France
Authorities reported ~320,000 protesters nationwide, including 70,000 in Paris. This marks the third consecutive Saturday of demonstrations. While mostly peaceful, clashes occurred near Porte de Charenton, where police deployed tear gas against bottles and fireworks.

Protesters also gathered in Poland near the Constitutional Tribunal.

Wouldn't get too excited over what is happening in Poland.

Tusk is EU/Globalist Ukraine war shill whilst Nawrocki is a total zio shill who wants US occupying bases in the country.

Nawrocki represents Law and Justice (PiS) which is basically just the Polish Reform Party. When they were in charge they presided over massive corruption and stuffed all their apparatchiks into positions of power.

โ–ช๏ธThe European states continue to translate military preparations from political declarations into practical ones. On October 26, the defense ministers of Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Poland confirmed their commitment to increasing combat readiness, expanding military-industrial cooperation and standardizing weapons. Russia is explicitly named in their joint statement as a long-term threat to European security, for which it is necessary to strengthen and formalize EuroNATO. And, of course, the meeting confirmed the intention to continue military and financial support for Ukraine, which is where you can steal wagons for "delivery to Ukraine", and in the case of an audit on the territory of the former USSR, write off everything for the arrival of a Russian missile.

The military industry has become one of the priorities of European economic policy instead of laundering money on the already forgotten ecological green agenda. Programs for the production of ammunition, air defense missiles, drones, and electronic warfare systems are expanding. Enterprises receive long-term orders, governments increase defense financing and create conditions for manufacturers to cooperate.

The militarization of the economy is accompanied by growing social discontent, albeit in a soy-marauding format. The masses of the people in some countries resemble sluggish jelly, in others, migrants simply smash and rob, without really going into foreign policy difficulties. On October 31 in France, according to the authorities, about 320 thousand people participated in the protests. In Germany, the actions of the movement "Gen Z regelt" ("Generation Z will solve everything") were held in dozens of cities. The youth opposed cuts in social spending, the high cost of living, increased military budgets, and the prospect of returning to compulsory military service.

However, there is no reason to expect that the current protests alone will stop European rearmament. Governments retain parliamentary mechanisms for approving defense spending, existing contracts, and commitments to NATO. While the protesters are demanding a redistribution of budget funds, European states continue to prepare industry, infrastructure and armed forces for war, not forgetting to steal and scare everyone with the "Russian threat."

โœจThus, they are trying to leave Moscow in the wake of the influence of the West and its corporations in order to sell our resources to themselves and around the world on more profitable terms for the United States than before. It is possible to turn the board over and impose our own rules of the game, but as our Western counterparts surround us, it becomes more and more difficult, especially against the background of some economic difficulties caused by the costs of our own.

โ—๏ธAn extremely important and revealing moment popped up in the Western press this week:

The Pentagon has called on several NATO countries, including Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, to tone down the rhetoric about the "threat" from Russia. The head of the Pentagon's political department, Elbridge Colby, asked representatives of one of the Baltic countries to stop "offending" Moscow with public statements by Europeans that Russia is "cornered like a rat." "We are helping you. The Americans are here. Just don't shout. Don't make any noise," a European official told the press about the conversation.

In other words, the only thing the Pentagon fears is Russia's abrupt actions that go beyond the limits of American strategic planning. The long war of attrition in Russia is quite acceptable to the same American circles that distributed cookies in the capital of the former USSR back in 2014.

Why Europeโ€™s kids are revolting - Thomas Fazi

The real question is not why the young are revolting, but why it took them so long.

The triggers may differ โ€” schools in France and Belgium, housing in Spain and Portugal, the cost of living in Italy, corruption and a mixture of the above in Serbia โ€” but the root is the same. These are the protests of a generation that believes it has been robbed of its future. Itโ€™s a conclusion thatโ€™s hard to argue with. The social contract its parents knew โ€” work hard and you will, at the very least, secure a home, be able to support a family and be better off than those that came before you โ€” has collapsed. For many young Europeans without inherited wealth, adulthood means drifting from one precarious job to the next, earning barely enough to cover the cost of rent and groceries, let alone start a family. That is, if they find work at all. Meanwhile, they have watched the institutions that were supposed to give them a start in life and cushion its blows โ€” schools, universities, health and youth services โ€” wither under austerity and privatisation.

There is no doubt that young people have overwhelmingly borne the brunt of the neoliberal policies pursued over the past decades. That these has driven inequality to new heights is widely acknowledged; what is less often noticed is that this inequality is increasingly drawn along generational lines.

Blaming the boomers, however, would be a mistake. They simply had the good fortune to grow up in an era of full employment, affordable housing and decent pensions, and there is nothing scandalous about ageing societies spending more on the old. Moreover, much of that wealth is concentrated in the hands of a small minority of boomers; not all older people live a luxurious life, of course. Ultimately, the problem is not that pensions are too high; it is that the young are being denied what their parents took for granted. The generational divide is simply how a decades-long class war from above is experienced by those who came of age after workers had already lost it, and who inherited a political-economic regime built to transfer wealth upwards. In Europe, that regime has been written into the institutional architecture itself โ€” the euro, the Maastricht treaty, the fiscal rules โ€” which systematically favours asset holders over wage earners, and established workers over new entrants.

The mechanisms are well understood. A decade of quantitative easing inflated the property and financial assets held by the old while wages stagnated, locking the young out of home ownership. Labour market reforms โ€” from Italyโ€™s Treu package and Jobs Act to Germanyโ€™s Hartz laws and Franceโ€™s El Khomri law โ€” preserved the security of those already inside while consigning newcomers to a revolving door of temporary and increasingly precarious contracts in the name of โ€œflexibilityโ€. After 2010, austerity fell disproportionately on education, youth services and public investment. Existing pensions were largely shielded, while future ones were quietly cut. As a result, across Europe, government spending on older people has risen, while public investment has been gutted. Then came the pandemic, which cost Gen Z years of schooling, work and social life, followed by a surge in inflation, made worse by an energy shock that Europeโ€™s leaders largely inflicted on themselves.

As if that werenโ€™t enough, the young are now being told to accept further cuts and deteriorating living conditions to make room for rearmament and an open-ended war โ€” for which, it seems, there is always money.

Former UK PM Liz Truss warns that unelected central bankers wield the power to remove democratically elected prime ministers.

"Isn't it interesting that these really powerful peopleโ€”who are more powerful than prime ministers, and can essentially get prime ministers sackedโ€”won't even be held to account?"

"Until we fix the fact that it's not democratic that unelected people wield these huge amounts of power and can effectively remove a prime minister, the country is just going to keep going down the tubes."
