N4 spiking warning to drivers near Hectorspruit
In less than two weeks, road spikes as well as various purpose-specific objects to slow down vehicles that use the N4, have been picked up by truck drivers who fell victim to the traps.

The police have been observing all dangerous car-stopping tools that were collected by road users and have informed the public and tourists to be extra careful when driving on the road from Malalane to Komatipoort, especially at night.

Yesterday evening Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of a cash-in-transit heist and bombing on the R40 outside the Hazyview area.
Reports from the scene are that two security officers were treated and stabilized on the scene for gunshot wounds before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care.
An unknown number of armed suspects ambushed the cash van opening fire on the officers before blowing the van up with an explosive device in order to gain access to the assets in transit.
They then fled in an unknown direction. The South African Police Services were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigation accordingly.

Power utility Eskom has confirmed reports of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) being deployed to some of its power stations.
“Eskom can confirm that the SANDF is being deployed. Eskom has received deployments at four sites,” it said.
The power stations which are seeing a military presence are:
Majuba
Camden
Grootvlei and
Tutuka
The exact nature of the deployment is not yet known, with Eskom redirecting all queries to the presidency. According to reports from News24, the reason for the deployment is to protect the power stations from theft of critical equipment and infrastructure.

Eskom has lost control of its power stations to criminal elements and “rent-seekers”, who engage in purposeful malfunction and sabotage to earn higher maintenance and other fees from the utility. Drain plugs removed from motor housings, cables cut, theft of coal and diesel, death threats against station managers, are all examples from a long list of cases which are awaiting police investigation.
