Virginia Peak link transmitter to Peavine has been repaired. It’s only running on exciter power (200mW), but is more than enough to talk to Peavine. The intermittent dropouts should no longer occur.
Power is out on all Ophir Peak machines. NV Energy contacted
Looks like power is out at Ophir and Davidson. NV Energy is aware of the outage.
For some reason the 147.030 Virginia Peak repeater appears to have stopped transmitting its 123.0 PL tone. For anyone having their radios set for CTCSS or tone decode on 147.030, you’ll need to temporarily disable it to hear any traffic. We’ll get this fixed as soon as possible. It does not effect any ability to communicate through the system.

Both Ophir and Davidson sites doe not have power at the moment and NVEnergy is aware of the outage.
The noise that has been noted on the system lately is coming from the link between Virginia Peak and Peavine. It’s being caused by the link antenna at Virginia Peak getting iced up and detuned effecting the performance. The transmitter is only putting about 100 milliwatts so the path becomes noisy with the icing. The signal improves when the ice melts.
