This Deflationary Memecoin Does Not Use Transaction Tax – How Does It Work?

TAMA has deviated from the norm and will not impose a transaction tax. What does this service mean for investors, and how does it operate?

No Transaction Tax

Deflation is one of the biggest selling points for any cryptocurrency. Many digital assets have looked to emulate Bitcoin and incorporate the deflationary model. As the laws of Economics go, an asset becomes more valuable as its circulating supply decreases.

Deflationary assets have already incorporated the transaction tax, including Luna Classic (LUNC) and Battle Infinity (IBAT). However, the developers of Tamadoge have stated they won't follow suit.

In a tweet shared earlier this week, they explained that they would not add a transaction tax to TAMA.

As they pointed out, the desire is for TAMA’s primary utility to come from the Tamadoge game itself, not the traders who trade the TAMA token night and day. So, all trades will be transparent, and no taxes will be imposed.

TAMA is the native token for Tamadoge – a blockchain gaming platform requiring players to purchase non-fungible tokens (NFTs) representing digital pets. The idea here is for players to buy these pets, groom them, and use them to battle those of other players. The more battles players win, the more TAMA tokens they get.
Disney brings back Bob Iger as CEO: Here’s the crypto connection.

Since leaving The Walt Disney Company, Bob Iger has been acting as an adviser and board member for the digital avatar platform Genies.

Metaverse-backer Bob Iger has announced a surprise return to his former role as CEO of Disney, taking over from now-former CEO Bob Chapek.

While Iger is most well known for serving 15 years as the CEO of the global entertainment conglomerate, the Disney executive became known in the crypto community after becoming a director, adviser and investor in Genies, a digital avatar platform running on Dapper Labs’ Flow blockchain.

“Thrilled to be joining the Genies Board of Directors to help Akash Nigam and company empower humans to create the 'mobile apps of Web3': avatar ecosystems,” Iger said at the time.

Iger was still at Disney as an executive and board chairman when the company filed for a metaverse-related patent on Dec. 28.

The patent was for a “virtual-world simulator in a real-world venue," and according to the filing, would allow visitors to Disney theme parks to use mobile phones to generate and project personalized 3D effects onto nearby physical spaces, such as walls and other objects.

However, Disney said at the time there were “no current plans” to use the “virtual-world simulator” patent, and the company has yet to announce any products related to the patent.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Iger’s return will reportedly only be temporary, though, with Iger only agreeing to serve as Disney’s CEO for the next two years.

During his new term as CEO, Iger will reportedly work with the board to set the strategic direction for the company and work to develop a successor.

In his absence, Disney has continued to work toward projects involving the metaverse, nonfungible tokens (NFTs) and blockchain throughout the year.

In September, Disney started hiring a principal counsel to work on transactions involving NFTs, the metaverse, blockchain and decentralized finance (DeFi).

Syntropy is building the first fully-distributed routing protocol for the Internet. Their mission is to increase internet performance so it can be Web3-ready! ⚡️

Their team has created and patented a Distributed Autonomous Routing Protocol (DARP) that connects nodes across the globe and allows routing data around congestions to travel through the fast and the most optimal path.

Recent events in crypto show that every attempt to centralize something people own is designed to fail. These guys are working on a vision where the Web3 community owns the Internet, and their native $NOIA token represents the tradable bandwidth on their OBX marketplace. 🔥

10,000 BTC moves off crypto wallet linked to Mt. Gox hack.

The crypto was dormant in the account for over seven years and with the move, a majority found its way to personal wallets.

A crypto wallet belonging to the shutdown crypto exchange BTC-e has just moved 10,000 Bitcoin, currently worth over $165 million, to various exchanges, personal wallets, and other sources on Nov. 23.

A Nov. 23 Chainalysis report suggested that while this withdrawal is the largest made by BTC-e since April 2018, BTC-e and WEX — an exchange which is thought to be BTC-e’s successor — both sent small amounts of BTC to Russian electronic payments service Webmoney on Oct. 26 before making a test payment on Nov. 11, then transferring out a further 100 BTC on Nov. 21.

Of the total amount sent, 9,950 BTC is thought to still be located in personal wallets, while the rest was moved through intermediaries before ending up at four deposit addresses in two large exchanges.

Blockchain analytics firm Cryptoquant co-founder and CEO Ki Young Ju also verified the findings noting 0.6% of the funds were sent to exchanges and may represent sell-side liquidity.

In a Nov. 24 tweet, Young Ju shared images of the transfer highlighting the BTC had been in the wallet for over seven years.

Young Ju also mentioned that 65 BTC had been transferred to the crypto exchange HitBTC and called on them to suspend the account for suspicious activity.

Mt. Gox was a Tokyo-based cryptocurrency exchange that once accounted for more than 70% of Bitcoin transactions. In 2014, the exchange was hacked with thousands of Bitcoin stolen and the exchange filed for bankruptcy shortly after.

BTC-e, which had its servers located in the United States, had its website shut down and funds seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 2017 after allegations that it was involved in money laundering, including crypto stolen during the Mt. Gox exchange hack.

According to Chainalysis, at the time of its shutdown BTC-e still held “a substantial amount of Bitcoin,” and in April 2018 moved over 30,000 BTC out of its service wallet.

While the owners of BTC-e attempted to remain anonymous, Alexander Vinnik is thought to be the main operator and has been embroiled in legal battles for the last five years as a result.

FTX collapse drives curiosity around Sam Bankman-Fried, Google data shows.

In November, the crypto community investigated and found SBF guilty of manipulating and misappropriating users’ funds, ultimately leading to the fall of the empire built around FTX.

The fall of FTX seemingly had the biggest impact on the crypto ecosystem as Google searches for the CEO Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) hit the roof over in November 2022. Some of the biggest drivers for this trend include mainstream media attention, colossal losses and political ties.

On Nov. 2, SBF lost his credibility after his company Alameda Research was found holding a large amount of FTX Token, an asset issued by FTX. Over the following two weeks, the crypto community investigated and found SBF guilty of manipulating and misappropriating users’ funds, ultimately leading to the fall of the empire of roughly 130 companies built by SBF.

On the one hand, the crypto community openly criticized SBF and his accomplices, including Caroline Ellison. But, on the other hand, mainstream media published puff pieces to water down SBF’s wrongdoings, which Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, among others, called out.

The blatant attempts by the mainstream media to change the narrative around SBF saw massive resistance from Crypto Twitter, further fueling the curiosity and forcing the general public to do their own research (DYOR) about the subject.

As a result, Google searches for the term “Sam Bankman-Fried” surged in November. The curiosity around SBF overpowered the other infamous personalities in the space, including co-founder and CEO of Terraform Labs Do Kwon, co-founder and CEO of Three Arrows Capital Su Zhu and Satoshi Nakamoto impersonator Craig Wright.

Google Trends data shows that searches for SBF are 185.7% more than they were for Do Kwon when Terra collapsed in May 2022. The collapse of Terra was considered the biggest blunder in crypto history until SBF took the spot six months later.

The FTX dust is far from settling as Turkey’s Financial Crimes Investigation Board, MASAK, seized SBF’s assets amid ongoing investigations.

The seizure was made after finding “criminal suspicion” of FTX failing to safely store user funds, embezzlement of customer assets and market manipulation.

FTX Bankruptcy Write Downs And Venture Capital Funding Data – What We Know So Far.

This time last year, venture capital (VC) firms couldn't get enough of FTX and Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) – but since the November collapse of the crypto empire all that has changed.

As the full horror story of the corporate governance vacuum that was FTX and Alameda Research is revealed, many are asking how VCs could fail so spectacularly in their duty of care to their investors.

In SBF's parallel universe, he is working to make FTX depositors whole again, but after his appearance at the New York Times Deal Book event earlier this week, former customers will be wanting to know how what looks like fraud was allowed to play out in plain sight – or at least with the facilitating investments of VCs.

What due diligence did firms do before ploughing hundreds of millions into SBF's companies? Not a lot by the look of it.

Why, for example, did so few of them stop to ask why there was no accounts department in a business that grew to a valuation of $35 billion?

Why did none of them seem to be aware that the offshore business was run from what a party house mansion in the Bahamas, where the conflicts of interest at the heart of the group took on physical manifestation in the form of the close personal relationships among the top team.

From here on, things are going to be changing in the crypto industry.
Ripple files final submission against SEC as landmark case nears end.

The two-year-long battle between SEC and Ripple is approaching the end, with Ripple filing its final submission in its case against the U.S. regulator on Dec. 2.

The most talked about crypto lawsuit involving the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Ripple is approaching its conclusion after a two-year-long battle.

On Dec. 2, the SEC and Ripple both filed redacted replies to each other’s opposition to motions for summary judgment.

Ripple argued in its motion document that the SEC has failed to prove that its offering of XRP between 2013 and 2020 was an offer or sale of an “investment contract” and therefore a security under federal security laws.

Ripple concluded the document by stating that “the court should grant Defendant’s Motion and should deny the SEC’s Motion.”

Stuart Alderoty, general counsel of Ripple, stated on Twitter on Dec. 3 that this is Ripple’s “final submission,” asking the court to “grant” judgment in its favor.

He also stated that Ripple is proud of the defense it has mounted on “behalf of the entire crypto industry,” noting that Ripple has “always played it straight with the court,” taking a subtle swing at the SEC saying he “can’t say the same for our adversary.”

In another Twitter post, Alderoty continued to slam the SEC on Dec. 5 and referred to it as a “bouncing regulator,” quoting two statements that he suggests are at ends with each other.

The ongoing legal dispute between SEC and Ripple began in December 2020 when the SEC initiated legal action against Ripple, claiming it had raised $1.3 billion by offering Ripple’s native cryptocurrency XRP as unregistered securities.

In an earlier Nov. 30 Twitter thread, former federal prosecutor James Filan said there are just three issues left to resolve in the SEC vs. Ripple case.

This includes the summary judgment motions, expert challenges and sealing issues regarding the “expert reports,” the Hinman documents and other material relied on by the SEC and Ripple in their motions.

The Hinman documents refer to the speech that William Hinman delivered at the Yahoo Finance All Markets Summit in June 2018, where he stated that Ether was not a security.

Hong Kong to subject crypto exchanges to the same laws governing TradFi.

The new legislation will bring a licensing regime for the virtual asset service providers requiring them to pass strict AML and money laundering guidelines.

Hong Kong’s legislative council has passed a new amendment to its anti-money laundering (AML) and terrorist financing system to include virtual asset service providers.

The latest legislation will establish a new licensing regime for virtual asset service providers, set to come into effect from June 1, 2023. The new amendment will subject crypto exchange service providers to the same legislation as followed by traditional financial institutions.

It means virtual exchanges looking to open a business in Hong Kong will have to go through rigorous AML guidelines and investor protection laws before being granted a license of operation. Unlike most other regulators around the globe, Hong Kong has used the FTX collapse as a way to mitigate regulatory risks associated with centralized exchanges.

In the aftermath of the FTX crypto exchange collapse, regulators from around the world have faced public ire for their failure to protect retail investors. There has been a growing demand to bring crypto exchanges and service providers under the purview of law and subject them to strict AML and investor protection requirements.

In a recent conference, Hong Kong Monetary Authority chief executive Eddie Yue hinted at possible investor protection regulations coming soon to the nation. The recent legislation amendment has propelled the nation to become the first mover on the pressing issue of investor protection.

Hong Kong has been actively working towards establishing a well-thought regulatory groundwork for the nascent crypto market. A policy proposing a regulatory framework and risk-based regulatory direction was published by the Hong Kong government in October under the title ‘Policy Declaration on the Development of Virtual Assets”. The government has suggested a number of pilot projects to evaluate and improve the technologies underlying virtual assets.
XRP Price Prediction as XRP Pumps 4% – How High Can it Go?

XRP, the cryptocurrency that underpins Ripple’s global blockchain-based payments system, was last trading lower by just over 1% on Friday, having pulled back from weekly highs in the $0.3950 area to trade around the $0.3900 level. That still leaves the cryptocurrency higher by about 4.2% versus earlier weekly lows.

Recent US PPI data showed that, while the YoY rate of inflation declined further, the decline was not as large as expected, which has weighed on sentiment in cryptocurrency markets. As a result, XRP price predictions have not become more bullish.

XRP’s rally in the last few days from recent lows doesn’t signal a sudden resurgence in XRP risk appetite. The cryptocurrency has only been able to recover back to close to its 21 and 200-Day Moving Averages again and remains well within recent ranges. XRP has also failed to get back to the north of a key Fibonacci level that marks the 61.8% retracement back from September highs in the $0.56 area to June’s annual lows in the $0.28 area.

In the last few weeks, XRP appears to have formed a descending triangle pattern, with support keeping a floor under the price action in the low $0.37s, while the upside has been squeezed by a downtrend that began on the 25th of November. Descending triangles tend to form ahead of a bearish breakout. The XRP bears will thus be biding their time and waiting patiently for XRP to break lower once again towards sub-$0.35 levels.

XRP appears to be at a crossroads. It looks to be around the middle of both short ($0.37-42) and longer-term ($0.31-55) ranges. The $0.42 area is a formidable area of resistance – it has consistently acted as both resistance and support since late July and is where the 100 and 50DMAs reside.

Conversely, if next week’s US CPI data surprises to the upside like today’s PPI data, and should the Fed be interpreted by the market as sounding hawkish, then macro headwinds are likely to result in XRP grinding lower. A steady crawl lower to $0.31 support, which is roughly where the post-FTX collapse lows are, could be on the cards.

Binance US finally rolls out mobile payments service to US customers.

Binance’s US arm has rolled out a feature called "Pay" that was launched by its global parent to users outside the US in 2021.

United States crypto exchange Binance US has finally rolled out its Binance Pay service — some 22 months after the feature was launched by the global exchange to its customers outside the U.S.

The service, which had a beta version rolled out globally in February 2021 for peer-to-peer payments that was expanded to include merchant transactions on March 12, allows mobile users of the Binance app to instantly transact withnearly 150 supported cryptocurrencies without fees.

A Dec. 13 blog post from Binance US clarifies that Pay transactions will feature zero gas or transaction fees, and notes that the app is currently only available on mobile as it prepares to introduce a web version “which will arrive in the near future.”

Meanwhile, amid the recent fear, uncertainty and doubt against Binance globally, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) applauded the Binance American unit, saying “Keep building!”

To access the new features, Binance US users would need to update to the latest version of the app, and go through identity verification as well as loading their Pay wallet.

However, the service only facilitates transactions between users on the Binance US mobile app. Users can receive up to $1 million in crypto every 24 hours.

The latest announcement has come amid a turbulent period for the global crypto exchange.

At the time of writing, Binance’s Bitcoin balance had fallen by over 42,000 in the last 24 hours, equating to over $754 million. But despite the withdrawals, the exchange still has a Bitcoin balance in excess of 527,304 BTC, according to on-chain monitoring resource Coinglass.

The withdrawals follow a Dec. 13 Reuters report that the U.S. Department of Justice is nearing the end of a three-year investigation into Binance, with U.S. prosecutors reportedly split over whether there is enough evidence to press criminal charges against the exchange and its executives.
