The Aspects of Óðinn Compared to the Irish Gods

https://taliesinsmap.blogspot.com/2020/04/the-aspects-of-oinn-compared-to-irish.html?m=1

How Óðinn should be seen in relation to the Irish gods is one of the most complex and controversial questions faced in Celtic-Germanic comparative study.

“...one thing is difficult to ignore, and it is an enormous key to understanding Celtic myth in its relation to the Norse: Óðinn shares myths with several Irish deities. While other Irish gods can often have close to a one-to-one correspondence to Norse counterparts, in the case of Óðinn it takes in the range of 5-7 Irish deities to cover all the mythic roles found in that dominant Germanic god.”

THE SUN RIDERS OFFICIAL MONTH OF MARS CHALLENGE

This month we will all be taking on new goals. All of you should pick at least one.

• Rank I - Hastati - 1 goal completed

• Rank II - Principes - 2 goals completed

• Rank II - Triarii - 3 goals completed

• Rank IV - Equites - 4 goals completed

The main goals we encourage people to seek would be:

Goal I - Fitness. Set goals and achieve them, if you're new set yourself up with a routine and stick to it. If you're experienced try to get new PRs and push yourself harder than ever.

Goal II - Sleep. This is something that comes easily to many of us, but others really struggle with it. Try to set yourself a productive wake-up time and an appropriate bedtime. For example I'm doing 5am for this challenge.

Goal III - Vices. This one simply depends on what you struggle with - reduce or QUIT - smoking, drinking, caffeine, fast food, sugary/junk food.

Goal IV - Reading. Finally get 'round to those books you've always wanted to read.

@solarcult
We all owe ourselves self-improvement. I hope many of you will join us this month in achieving as many of these goals as possible.

Good luck, stay strong, worship the Gods, and our ancestors.

Mars Challenge Add-On: Intermittent Fasting

As a natural addition to our Mars Challenge, I would encourage you to consider Intermittent Fasting (IMF or IF).
For those of you who are not familiar with the concept, or who have not tried it themselves, here are a few points:

First of all, we all thrive on rhythms. The daily ebb and flow of light and dark, activity and rest, and also eating and fasting, are integral parts of our existence.
Only a few generations ago, the majority of people practiced IMF without giving it a name or thinking much of it, as early supper times were common, and most caloric intake occurred during daylight hours.
As such, circadian-based IMF is an excellent place to start, and it’s also the easiest fasting rhythm to adhere to.
A 14-16 hour fasting window, such as eating your last bite (and drinking your last drink other than water or plain tea/coffee) by 6 pm and then refraining from eating anything until 8-10 am the next day, is a good place to start for most people. You can adapt the start and end times to your schedule, but it is advisable that your eating window occurs during daylight hours.

Whether or not you combine IMF with reduced carbohydrate intake, it will be beneficial to you:
Fasting will improve your gut health, accelerate the loss of body fat, reduce insulin resistance, reduce inflammation in the body, and increase your mental clarity.

Once you have become disciplined with a daily fasting and eating rhythm, it will be much easier for you to try longer fasts of one or several full days.
Longer fasting comes with additional benefits such as increased HGH levels and improved immunity. It kickstarts a process called autophagy, where your body cleans up thoroughly by removing old cells.

I would like to point out that exercising during your fasting window will further increase the benefits, but take it easy and start with things like hiking or running.

Take the Mars Challenge, and increase its potency by practicing IMF!

Today I am presenting you a new series of articles with the aim of delving deeper into one of the more overlooked branches of the Indo-European people - the Daco-Thracians.

This first part is a short introduction to the topic.

The Conception of the Male Indo-European Sun God: Karna and Bres

https://taliesinsmap.blogspot.com/2020/08/the-conception-of-indo-european-sun-god.html?m=1

I have been ranting about this lately wherever I can.

We see that an Irish text preserves nearly the same wording as an Indian sacred text 4 millennia distant from it, making tangible the preserved sacred quality of the Irish bardic tradition.

This is also the first time the Irish sun gods have been identified with near certainty, opening a new window into a core myth of the IE sun god.

Eusebia, Dharma and Piety

The modern world lends itself to vice, immoral behavior and worse. Contrary to Hollywood misconceptions, it was not always this way, based on what we know from ancient civilizations that pre-date chrisitianity. Eusebia and Dharma both have elements of piety and have been compared to each other even in ancient times.

Pagan portrait of Skanderbeg - Portreti pagan i Skënderbeut

A friend of the channel sent me this today. A fantastic portrait of Skanderberg which compares his representations to Indo-European mythology. A fascinating read that I would highly recommend to all interested in Albanian history & mythology.

Etain and the Triple Transformation

https://taliesinsmap.blogspot.com/2021/03/etain-and-triple-transformation.html?m=1

Can the sorceress Fuamnach, who is burned and/or beheaded, and who causes Etain to undergo a triple transformation, be a parallel of the Norse Gullveig?

And does this strange myth, wherein Etain becomes a large purple fly, have something to to with the processing of the sacred liquid?

Jung's Katabasis, part 1

We asked the earth
We asked the sky
We asked the sea
We asked the wind
We asked the fire
We searched for you among all the peoples
We searched for you among all the kings
We searched for you among all the wise
We searched for you within our own head and heart
And we found you within the egg

- a translated poem from The Red Book by Carl Gustav Jung, a Swiss Psychoanalyst and Psychiatrist. In his lifetime he wrote various books on symbols, archetypes and myths of the soul and in his later days, Gnosticism. The Red Book was his descent into his own underworld of the mind and with that came grand dialouges, profound revelations and disturbing scenarios. It is full of 'pagan' symbology and was made in a style similar to medieval manuscripts.

Jung's Katabasis, part 2

"From December 1913 onward, he carried on in the same procedure: deliberately evoking a fantasy in a waking state, and then entering into it as into a drama. These fantasies may be understood as a type of dramatized thinking in pictorial form.... In retrospect, he recalled that his scientific question was to see what took place when he switched off consciousness. The example of dreams indicated the existence of background activity, and he wanted to give this a possibility of emerging, just as one does when taking mescaline." - Sonu Shamdasani

Sonu was a friend of Jung's. He describes the details of how Jung achieves his descent or Katabasis into his own underworld. It was described by some as a Mytho-Poetical experience and may have been what inspired our ancestors to make their myths. Though being a descent into what we call the subconcious, the experiences were subjective to Jung, but he still thought it worthy of study for one's own knowledge.

Jung's Katabasis, part 3

In the last post, Sonu suggests that the visions or fantasies documented in The Red Book started in 1913 and onward. The Red Book was seen by him to be one of his most important almost lifelong works. He claimed these fantasies to be telling of the future to some extent and that he foresaw WW1 happening in this state. Also in the last post it states that his goal was to turn off his waking conciousness and letting what's under the surface emerge. This resembles the teachings of some buddhists such as Bodhidharma in their ways of meditation. For the final post about The Red Book and Jung's descent into the underworld, I'll end on this translated poem from The Red Book also known as the Liber Novus:

A word / that was never spoken
A light / that never shone
A confusion beyond compare And a road without end
