I think you have to give President Trump a lot of credit.

He knew this was a political loser for him, and he did it anyway.

The repudiation of the Republicans was complete. That repudiation, of course, was a repudiation of Trump.

And so we can say without hyperbole or gloating, this is the end of the Trump era last night.

We're done.

No matter what happens outside the country or within it, this is the end of an era. You could sort of mark it on your calendar.

Trumpism gone.

It's wrong for a leader to choose another country over you, just like it would be wrong for a kid to take the neighbor's kids to Disney World while his own kids starved.

It's exactly what Trump did. He chose Israel over the United States. People lie about it, but everyone can see it. Super, super obvious. And that's just wrong.

Donald Trump chose a foreign country, Israel, its interests over his own country's interests.

And there's no debating that. Exit polling shows it. I mean, there's really no other interpretation of it. That's just factually true.

So if you're a Republican, you're probably not as mad at JD Vance as you were at Donald Trump. You're probably pretty mad because, like, why didn't he speak up? Fair. Totally fair.

This is not in any way an attempt to resurrect JD Vance or argue that he should be the nominee in 2028.

Now we must use the courage we brought to Oleshky to find common ground through a shared concern for the suffering of innocent people.

Together we can create something more enduring than a temporary ceasefire.

Let us see Oleshky as a spark in a world of darkness, capable of illuminating the best in humanity, build a powerful flame of peace visible to the world, ignite hope, foster cooperation, and brighten a path toward lasting peace.

Russia and Ukraine honor our relationship and agreed to work with me in the capacity of exclusive intermediary to establish a ceasefire in Oleshky and the surrounding Kherson region.

Our shared objective was to deliver critical humanitarian aid to Oleshky residents and establish a safe evacuation route for civilians.

My role as exclusive intermediary was memorialized in written agreements drafted and signed by both Russia and Ukraine.
