The report, submitted to the UN Security Council last week, details how an Emirati security company with close government connections trained the Colombian fighters in Abu Dhabi before transporting them into Sudan through territories controlled by UAE-backed groups in Libya and Somalia.

The mercenaries provided drone operations, artillery support, and military training to the RSF.

The findings have also increased scrutiny of UAE diplomat Lana Nusseibeh's candidacy for UN secretary-general, particularly given her previous denials of Emirati involvement in Sudan's war on the side of the RSF.

In my opinion, the recent uptick in MQM-170C activity is due to additional deliveries being carried out by Griffith Aerospace. A $67.9M contract for MQM-170C procurement specifically for Operation Epic Fury was signed earlier this year and is scheduled to complete on March 30, 2027. Some deliveries have likely been completed already.
