🇺🇸🇮🇷⚡️ — U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has been heavily involved in indirect negotiations with Iran over the past two weeks, two sources familiar with the matter tell Axios.

The push began two weeks ago when Vance sent a letter to Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Maj. Gen. Mohsen Rezaei proposing direct negotiations. Vance has also been speaking almost daily to mediators involved in Iranian-American peace talks including Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani and Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan Asim Munir.

Vance and Qatari/Pakistani mediators have been discussing the possibility of a working-level technical meeting between Iran and the United States soon, though one hasn't been scheduled yet. U.S. officials and regional sources tell Axios that President Trump seems to be willing to let diplomatic efforts occur for now.
