Inconsolable grief

Iran is preparing for one of the largest funeral ceremonies in its contemporary history to bid farewell to martyr Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Millions are expected to gather across five cities over six days, with Tehran's Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla hosting the main prayers.

Over 300 foreign journalists and delegations from more than 90 countries will attend. A vast logistical operation involving all state institutions has been mobilized. The nation, draped in black, has paused in collective mourning for the man millions regarded as their spiritual compass.

"A Martyr Never Dies": Brazilian cartoonist reflects on illustrating Iran's supreme leader

Carlos Latuff, the renowned Brazilian political cartoonist, told the Tehran Times that the assassination of Ayatollah Khamenei will strengthen, not intimidate, the Iranian people. He said the US-Israeli act turned the Leader into a martyr. Latuff criticized Western media for acting as "propaganda" for Washington and Tel Aviv, and described the 2026 World Cup as a political stage under Trump's influence.

War, memory and the race to save a civilization

In an exclusive interview, Dr. Jebrael Nokandeh, Director of the National Museum of Iran, revealed that 149 heritage sites across 18 provinces were damaged in the recent conflictโ€”a deliberate assault on historical memory. The museum safely relocated 3,508 artifacts. Nokandeh stressed that digital documentation is now essential, and called on the international community to uphold its duty to protect humanity's shared cultural inheritance.

The modern golem of Silicon Valley demands a ritual sacrifice of innocence

An analysis argues that the February 28 strike on Minab's Shajareh Tayyebeh school, which killed 156 children, was enabled by Silicon Valley's AI military infrastructure. Systems like "Lavender" and "Project Maven," integrated with tech firms' models, automated targeting with lethal speed. The piece criticizes tech executives for claiming innocence while profiting from algorithms that treat civilian casualties as statistical errors in an industrialized kill chain.
