Carrying Iran's flag is a great honor: Golshadnezhad

Iranian karate star Atousa Golshadnezhad, selected as one of Iran's flag bearers for the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, says her goal is to combine the honor with winning gold.

"I appreciate the trust they have placed in me," she said. "My goal is not only to proudly carry the flag but also to win the best possible medal for my country."

The reigning Asian champion has fully recovered from injury and is in training camps under head coach Pegah Zangeneh. The team is scheduled for a warm-up tournament in Turkey.

The Asian Games run Sept. 19–Oct. 3.

Baghaei: Hosting Iran's enemies and complicity in attacks shows ingratitude, lack of foresight

🔹Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei shared a historic photo of Iranian specialists in Kuwait from 1991, writing:

🔹This image shows noble Iranian experts working to extinguish Kuwait's burning oil wells after Saddam's army retreated . Despite just three years having passed since Iraq's imposed war—during which Kuwait and other GCC states supported Saddam—Iran sent a 47-member team that capped 28 wells in the Burgan field, part of the largest oil well firefighting operation in history .

🔹"Hosting Iran's enemies and complicity in attacks on Iranians reflects ingratitude for past goodwill and a lack of foresight," Baghaei warned.

Attacks on Iran's infrastructure may amount to 'collective punishment': Italian analyst

Giulio Chinappi of CeSEM tells Tehran Times that targeting ports, power networks, and transport systems reflects hybrid warfare designed to erode civilian life. The ICRC warns deliberate attacks on essential civilian infrastructure may constitute "war crimes."

Diplomacy didn't fail—it was subordinated to coercion. Washington treated the Islamabad MoU as a provisional arrangement, not a reciprocal process. Israel's maximalist objective of weakening Iran made a balanced settlement less attractive than confrontation.

Chinappi warns: external pressure rarely compels surrender—it strengthens resistance. This model may produce the opposite result: a more militarized Iran reconsidering its nuclear restraint.

Arbaeen theater festival to showcase diverse live plays along pilgrimage route

The 10th edition features 13 works—tazieh, naqqali, street theater, and puppetry—at ten points along the Arbaeen route and in Najaf and Karbala from July 25 to August 5.

All participating artists perform live without payment, viewing their presence as a spiritual offering. While Iraqi troupes use pre-recorded shows, all Iranian groups perform live.

No foreign groups will participate this year due to quality concerns, but organizers aim to build a network of Islamic world theater artists. The festival aspires to create works resonating with pilgrims of all languages and cultures.

Trump's reckless gamble: How American aggression against Iran is crippling the global economy

Renewed US strikes on Iran are not merely a bilateral conflict—they are economic warfare against the world. By targeting the Strait of Hormuz, Washington has held the global economy hostage. Oil has crossed $90 a barrel; US gasoline is above $4 per gallon.

The IMF now projects global growth at just 3% for 2026, with consumer prices increasing by 4.7%—stalling two years of progress against inflation.

Europe faces a compounding crisis: a heatwave crippling Rhine River transport alongside the Hormuz blockade.

This is not strategy—it is a reckless gamble with no winners.
