Query :
I got exemption in Paper 1 in Nov 20/Jan 21. In July 21 I scored 60+ in another paper of the same group but the marks in Paper 2 are higher than marks in Paper 1. So can I claim the exemption in Paper 2 by surrendering exemption in Paper 1?

Solution :
No, you cannot claim the exemption in Paper 2.

Reason :
As per ICAI Exemption Rules, a candidate who has appeared in one group in a sitting and has secured more than 60% of marks is eligible for getting exemption from that paper. However, since you've not sat for Paper 1 in July 21 and got it exempted by claiming exemption, Paper 2 in which you scored more than 60% is not eligible for exemption for the next attempt. Hence, only Paper 1 is eligible for exemption.

Please share it with your friends. I see a lot of people getting misguided on this area.
