[Building serverless applications with Rust on AWS Lambda]

This is actually the first architecture i deployed on AWS when i was first learning terraform and AWS.

It is a great architecture to optimize cost, development speed and performance at the same time.

Actually just had another idea for a cool thing we can build on stream.

Serverless for your servers.

So the tool will be a reverse proxy but instead of you telling it which address to listen to, you give it a command to run to start your server.

The benefit for this is that you can buy a 5$ VPS and then run all of your servers on it. There is no reason for your app to be running all the time on the VPS consuming resources.

This tool would only start your server when it gets a request, and then it will keep it running for the next 30 mins or so and if it doesn't receive any requests in the mean time it will kill it.

So you would be going from 10 servers running on your VPS all the time, to one reverse proxy that provisions the servers when they are needed.

This ended up being a really great usecase for pingora. We just had to modify two functions in pingora to get this to work.

early_request_filter to filter request via the Host header

upstream_peer to check if the server is running and spawn it if it is not.

I will keep working on this project it could be cool.
