The privacy of our thoughts, emotions and biology will disappear when corporations and governments gain direct read/write access to the human operating system — all under the progressive-sounding promise of longer life, perfect health and equality through augmentation.

What starts with a "helpful" pacemaker or neural interface ends with the realization of Orwell's vision of a fully measurable, modifiable and remotely governable population — humanity reduced to nodes on a control grid, forever assessed, optimized and disciplined by unelected algorithms that can never be unplugged.
