PM DHARA Scheme
The Union Cabinet approved the PM DHARA Scheme (Prime Minister Developing Harmonized and Accelerated Renewable-Energy Access) with a total financial outlay of ₹1,86,405 crore to strengthen intra-state transmission and grid storage for clean energy.
Key Objectives & Targets
• Evacuation Capacity: Transmit up to 135 GW of renewable energy across states.
• Battery Storage: Deploy 50 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Target Timeline: Complete implementation by FY 2032–33.
• Strategic Role: Acts as Phase-III of the Green Energy Corridor to fix solar/wind intermittency.
Implementation Mechanism
• Greenfield Projects: Executed via Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB).
• Brownfield Upgrades: Executed on a Cost Plus Basis (CPB) through State Transmission Utilities.
