US President Donald Trump vowed to become "Mr. Veto" and block legislation if Democrats win control of Congress in Tuesday's midterm elections, according to an interview published Monday.
"I think we're going to do great. But if we didn't win, I veto everything. I'll be vetoing, vetoing," Trump told the New York Post newspaper.
If Republicans lose control of Congress, Trump said he expects he could issue vetoes for "a month or two" before reaching compromises with Democrats.
The White House has reportedly spent months preparing for a possible Democratic takeover of Congress, developing plans to keep advancing major parts of administration's agenda through executive power, according to a White House official and two people familiar with the plans who talked to Reuters.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has warned federal judges this weekend that the Trump administration could seek search warrants to seize ballots and related election materials before the results of the midterm elections are certified.
“I have grave concerns federal agents will seek search warrants to seize ballots and ballot materials before the election results are certified,” Newsom wrote.
While noting that he was not aware of any warrant applications currently pending, Newsom urged the judiciary to apply rigorous scrutiny to any future submissions from federal prosecutors.
“The stakes for democracy and the rule of law are too high to consider any such application without additional scrutiny,” Newsom emphasised in his correspondence.
