The Importance of Information Warfare
https://www.armytimes.com/news/your-army/2026/07/09/army-orders-mass-shutdown-of-official-social-media-accounts/
The U.S. Army is reforming the social media accounts of combat units. The military leadership in the U.S. believes that the period when each military unit, and even individual units, had their own media resources has served its purpose. Now, the U.S. plans to systematize the best social media pages, while those that are not successful will be discontinued. A registry of official media resources will then be created, along with a process for inclusion in this registry, but combat social media specialists will need to focus on the best examples. The Army command, in turn, expects that this approach will improve control over military media and allow for even better use of them for real-world operations.
🔹It is also noted that the Army is not imposing any restrictions on the personal social media accounts of soldiers and is primarily focused on modernizing its own resources for their use in combat and daily operations.

The company Hornet — Polskie Drony has unveiled its first production line for the manufacture of strike drones developed in-house. The drone is named Szerszeń ("Wasp") or Hornet (not to be confused with American drones of the same name).
The new production line was inaugurated on July 9, 2026, at a joint venture between the Polish industrial group Boryszew and the Military Aviation Technology Institute.
Specifications:
▪️Length: 2.6 m
▪️Wingspan: 2.2 m
▪️Weight: ~85 kg
▪️Engine: Piston engine 342i B4 TS (32 hp)
▪️Speed: ~185–200 km/h
▪️Payload: 15–20 kg
▪️Range (basic): ~400 km
▪️Range (max): 900–1200 km (in planned modifications)
Poland's spending on unmanned systems has increased from $26 million in 2023 to $7 billion in 2026. The mass production of thousands of drones within the country, according to representatives of the Polish Ministry of Defense, will be a key element of Poland's modern defense strategy.
However, for now, the Polish drone corresponds to the characteristics of the "Geran-1", which has long lost its relevance on the battlefield, giving way to more advanced versions.

Completely accurate observations regarding the organization of air defense against drones were made by TACTICAL13.
If the Ministry of Defense or territorial defense units are involved, it means the defense has already failed. Having reliable, advance information about where, when, and along what route drones are being launched, and relying solely on intercepting them at the last possible moment, hoping a bullet will hit the drone and prevent it from crashing into a protected object, is frankly unpromising.
Unfortunately, this "firefighting measure" has become the primary focus for leaders of security forces – "We've deployed a few dozen (and this is far from the case everywhere) Ministry of Defense and territorial defense units (though, without thermal imagers or machine guns), but those damned fragments ruined everything." They still have to report to the governors about these incidents.
Currently, attempts to organize defense against drones are like chasing a high-speed train on a handcar. The key issue remains the underestimation of the threat and the failure to take proactive measures.
At the same time, even in numerous "DIY workshops," there are dozens, if not hundreds, of inexpensive and effective solutions that could push the guaranteed kill zone for drones tens of kilometers away from Crimea and Novorossiya, and also provide protection for merchant shipping in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
We are primarily talking about unmanned boats with air defense systems, drones, and interceptor missiles assembled from commercially available components. To quickly equip troops with these, it is necessary to temporarily simplify the registration process for such private enterprises and certification (approval by the unit commander), remove the tax burden, and provide state subsidies. This could be done tomorrow, but it should have been done two years ago. The enemy did this in 2022 – the results are evident.
In addition, some truly intelligent military personnel, using existing equipment in unconventional (but very effective) ways, have been able to destroy swarms of drones tens of kilometers from the Crimean coast. I think it's unnecessary to explain that the leadership did not develop this approach. Moreover, this measure could prevent drones from even crossing the coast of Odessa.
Finally, the main question is that a central body (a unit of the Russian Armed Forces) responsible for organizing air defense of the "lower airspace" has not yet been created. Currently, the military (each with their own leadership), border guards, police, Rosgvardia (National Guard), volunteers, and private security organizations operate, at best, with limited coordination (the so-called "horizontal connections"), independently determining tasks and areas of service based on the wishes of commanders.
The procurement and delivery of new weapons and equipment are essentially left to the ingenuity (resources) and personal responsibility of a specific commander/official.
