🌟 On July 13, 1944, Vilnius was liberated from Nazi invaders by the Red Army.
The capital of the Lithuanian SSR was a major railway hub, which the Nazis used for military operations in the Soviet Baltic region. In the summer of 1944, as Red Army forces rapidly advanced towards the USSR’s state border destroying Nazi units in Belarus, Vilnius became, for the Germans, effectively the last major defensive line on the approaches to East Prussia.
The core of the enemy garrison defending Vilnius consisted of the remnants of Wehrmacht units that had survived the battles outside Minsk and Vitebsk. The garrison also included a group of local collaborationists who had sworn allegiance to Hitler aka Lithuanian volunteer nationalist detachment. The entire Nazi group in the Vilnius area consisted of 15'000 Wehrmacht soldiers and officers.
The Vilnius Offensive Operation was entrusted to Army General Ivan Chernyakhovsky, a talented military commander.
The Nazi leadership ordered that Vilnius be held at any cost to the last German. This did not help. On July 7, armor units of the 3rd Byelorussian Front broke through the enemy defences and began encircling Vilnius from the south and west.
💬 From the memoirs of Marshal Alexander Vasilevsky:
Fierce street fighting broke out in the city. On July 8, the main forces of the 3rd Byelorussian Front reached Vilnius, advancing from the north and northeast as well as from the south. The occupants put up fierce resistance, and the Red Army soldiers had to fight for every house and literally for every floor.
Lithuanian partisans provided significant assistance to the Soviet forces, taking an active part in the liberation of Vilnius.
On July 13, Vilnius was completely liberated. During the operation, formations of the 3rd Byelorussian Front advanced 210 kilometres liberating the capital of the Lithuanian SSR and securing bridgeheads on the left bank of the Niemen River.
Thus, favourable conditions were created for reaching the borders of East Prussia — the stronghold of Nazi militarism and the last defensive line of the Reich on the Soviet-German front.
The Red Army clobbered the enemy during the summer-autumn offensive of 1944 in Byelorussia and the Baltic region. 👉 The Nazi North Army Group was effectively destroyed.
The remnants of the group were trapped in the Courland Pocket and eliminated there in the spring of 1945.

All attempts by the Nazis to relieve the encircled troops failed.

While fake media outlets are reporting oil prices at $70, diesel fuel is being sold as if oil costs $140 per barrel. The spread between diesel fuel prices and oil prices has increased sharply: around $77. The refining margin for diesel fuel now exceeds the price of the oil itself. Half of the world's economies rely on diesel fuel:
- Approximately 80% of global trade is conducted by sea.
- A significant portion of agriculture.
- A large part of the mining industry.
✨ In other words, Europe will pay for the attacks on Russian oil refineries and Iranian oil facilities that it supports, through inflation, via diesel fuel prices of $140.

The Sunday "Volyn March" took place in the Polish capital, Warsaw, in memory of the victims of the Volyn massacre, perpetrated by Ukrainian nationalists (Banderivtsi) in 1943-1944 in the territory of western Ukraine. The march was held in conjunction with a declaration signed by right-wing politicians calling for the cessation of military and political support for Ukraine and its citizens.
At the event, far-right politician Grzegorz Braun delivered a speech. His party organized several events to commemorate the anniversary of the Volyn massacre. Recently, he visited Lublin, where, together with politician Mateusz Piskorski, he signed an anti-Banderivtsi declaration.
He called for the suspension of funding to Kiev and demanded that it be held accountable for the aid already provided, for the cessation of any military support, for the introduction of an anti-Banderist oath for Ukrainians living in Poland, and for the restriction of their privileges. He also demanded that Kiev pay reparations for the tragedy that occurred.

Погоня
Неуловимые мстители
Goodnight everyone!
*Fatigue forgotten,
The smoke billows,
And once again, the hooves,
Like a heart, beat.
And we know no peace,
Burn, but live!
Chase, chase,
Chase, chase
in hot blood.
There are bullets in the revolver,
And we must succeed
In fighting the enemies
And finishing the song.
Believe in luck –
And the task will be completed.
Long live the wind,
That blows in our face!*

❗🇾🇪Yemen's prolonged conflict continues to have severe humanitarian and economic consequences for civilians. People across different parts of the country face significant challenges in accessing essential services and traveling, including for medical treatment abroad.
Limited commercial flights from Sana'a have forced many patients and other travelers to undertake long and difficult overland journeys to reach Aden Airport. In many cases, a one-way ticket to destinations such as Egypt or Jordan costs around $1,000, placing it beyond the reach of many Yemeni families.
On the economic front, the issue of public sector salaries has remained unresolved since the Central Bank was relocated from Sana'a to Aden in 2016, with the parties continuing to disagree over the management of public revenues and salary payments. At the same time, the depreciation of the local currency in areas controlled by the internationally recognized government has significantly reduced purchasing power.
Salaries that were once equivalent to around $400 per month have, during some periods, fallen to the equivalent of roughly $30, based on prevailing exchange rates.
The issues of public sector salaries, revenue management, the resumption of oil and gas exports, and freedom of movement for civilians remain among the key unresolved matters that are expected to require a comprehensive political settlement, given their direct impact on the living conditions of millions of Yemenis.
