First red week of the new season and it's a massive one! I don't think I even made any obvious bad calls either, stars just aligned to show a big middle finger. Machida did enough to win their game, Jubilo Iwata got two quick goals in the first five for that game to be over, Avispa conceded in the 8th minute allowing Sanga to take a much more defensive and risk free approach, making the over 1.5 hard to hit, Ehime were alone with the goalkeeper three times, but couldn't score on any of them to get a 2nd goal, Shiga vs Tottori had multiple big chances, but again the ball just didn't want to go in and lastly we have Matsumoto, who can't be fixed it's just not happening and what ever they are paying their strikers, it's too much even if they work for free, it's just too much. Kitakyushu should even have won it in the last seconds of the game, but I guess they spent too much time around the Matsumoto players that they probably caught the same virus they have.
Anyway, the games comes quick now and this week will be good! If I say it enough it will just manifest on it's own, at least if we are to believe Shaman Durek who definitely isn't a charlatan.

Kashiwa has looked mint so far and deservedly won all of their games, though their opponents hasn't been the hardest so far.
FC Tokyo started off the season by getting a player sent off against Machida, who followed that up with a 5-1 win, but since than FC Tokyo has looked as good as expected. Shimizu have lost 1-0 three times and won 1-0 once... They are "hard to beat", but struggle for goals, which is why they don't win much at the moment. This will probably an even and low-scoring match, but I fancy the guests if there is a winner.

It isn't just the J1 teams that plays today, but the teams from J2 & J3 are playing in the League Cup.
First off I expect a lot of rotations again as all of the teams here are playing again in three days and it's the cup, they always rotate a lot in the cup games.
Maybe Tochigi goes a bit stronger since they anyway are going up north and there is little reason to all the way down again just to go even further up north again the next day. Regardless, Hachinohe are bad even with their sneaky win on Saturday and Tochigi has a better and deeper squad.
Gifu are in great form and played at home last week and will play at home this weekend as well, so no travel for them. Tokushima has been shockingly poor and their first win in J2 at the weekend was a massive scam. Their goal came from a deflected shot after a corner they shouldn't have been given... Tokushima will definitely not come here with anyone from their first team with the long travel and games coming up so quick.
