THE HOLY SPIRIT ONLY COMES WHEN THERE IS ROOM FOR HIM TO DWELL…
And another of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” Jesus, however, said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.” Matthew 8:21-22
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me; Matthew 16:24

Sanctify them by your truth. Your word is truth. John 17:17
Bishop's Comments on John 17:17
Text: 17.17: Sanctify them by Your truth. The Lord Jesus’ request to His disciples was for them to live separately from sin and to stay away from worldly concerns. The Savior states that they would only achieve this if they kept and obeyed the Holy Scriptures. In this way, He revealed that the secret to being preserved is to maintain pure thoughts and an upright character. The Word of God is the perfect tool to correct, exhort, encourage, and sustain faith and fear. This means that everything in life should be based on the Word; and without it, it is impossible to keep Salvation.

Proverbs 1:19 So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; it takes away the life of its owners.
Greed sometimes also translated as covetousness but what is covetousness?
Covetousness means a strong, exaggerated, and excessive desire to possess goods, money, power, or something that belongs to another person.
Exodus 20:17 You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
Matthew 5:28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
The problem with greed or covetousness is that it is something internal; you cannot see it, and no one knows it is happening unless it is expressed externally.
How to overcome it, or better yet, how to not even have it?
Bishop said something to someone who was starting in the work of God that i never forget:
“Confess your temptations so that you do not have to confess your sins.”
I have preached from time to time and meditated on James 1:13-16:
“…But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived...”
We can see that the best thing to do is to cut off the sin before it is even born, to watch the heart and mind, and to cut off the desires that tries to be born, because if the desire or covetousness is cut off, there will be no sin…
Without sin, and with holiness, we will see the Glory of God here in this world and obtain eternal salvation.
Joshua 3:5 Joshua also said to the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”
Therefore, this Sunday will be the Sunday of the Holy Nation. Consecrate yourselves and prepare yourselves so that God may do wonders among us.
