What is SSR (Special Summery Revision ): In this process of SSR retains existing voters list and requires voters who want inclusion or exclusion from the list by makin application on prescribed format.
SIR (Special Intensive Revision) : In this process every voters in the existing list too submit the enumeration form, which could be downloaded from ECs website or Provided to the Voters by Booth level officers (BLOs).

This is a UPSC CSE Prelims 2023 question.
The logic is actually very simple — jackfruit trees are abundantly found in Kerala.
Kerala’s forest type is mainly Tropical Evergreen.
So, by eliminating the option that associates jackfruit with any other forest type, one can arrive at the correct answer through basic reasoning.

Tropical Forest Forever Facility:
Tropical Forests Forever Facility (TFFF)
____
• TFFF = proposed US$ 125 billion investment fund to protect tropical forests.
• Proposed by Brazil at COP28 (Dubai), 2023.
• Expected major launch focus at COP30 (Belém, Brazil – Nov 2025).
____
Financial Model
• Endowment style fund.
• Capital from:
o Sovereign capital (governments)
o Philanthropic capital
o Private investors
• Investment returns → used to pay tropical countries.
____
Working Mechanism
• Countries get US$ 4 per hectare/year for forests they keep standing.
• Deductions if any portion of forest is deforested.
• Idea = create economic incentive for low deforestation → aim towards zero deforestation.
____
Benefit for Forest Communities
• Recipient countries must allocate minimum 20% to Indigenous Peoples & Local Communities (IPLCs).
• Reason:
o IPLCs manage ~50% of world’s intact forests.
o Research shows they are the best custodians of forests.
____
Indigenous Role – Required Improvements
• Present model: payments mainly through national governments.
• Required changes:
o More direct funding to communities.
o Co-design of funding mechanisms with IPLCs & civil society.
o Communities must be part of governance structure, not just beneficiaries.
____
Other Concerns / Shortcomings
• National sovereignty respected → countries free to use funds as they choose.
• But need:
o Stronger environmental + social safeguards
o Clear exclusion of harmful industries/investors
o Transparent grievance redress mechanism to ensure accountability.
____
Overall Idea
TFFF aims to pay for preservation, not for destruction, and integrates equity + climate finance by linking forest protection with direct economic returns for tropical nations and forest communities.

EPC Model (Engineering, Procurement and Construction)
Meaning:
EPC is a project delivery/contract model used mainly in infrastructure like roads, highways, bridges, power plants etc.
What happens in EPC?
The contractor is responsible for:
Engineering → preparing design, drawings, technical planning
Procurement → purchasing raw material, machinery, equipment
Construction → building and handing over the complete project
The contractor does everything.
Who pays?
The Government pays the contractor directly.
Government owns the project.
Contractor gets a fixed payment for completing the project within time.
Risk
Major risk of time and cost overruns is on the contractor, not the government.
Why EPC model is used in India?
Earlier PPP / BOT models faced financial stress.
Private companies were not willing to bring their own funds.
EPC allows speedy completion of projects.
Example: Many National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) highway projects are now awarded through EPC.
Key Features (for UPSC)
Feature EPC Model
Funding Govt funded
Contractor Role Design + procure + build
Risk Contractor bears
Ownership Government
Payment Fixed contract price
In simple words → In EPC model, government pays, contractor builds.
