I followed this trick to clear the preliminary examination for multiple time
UPSC Prelims Strategy: 3-Round Approach
Round 1: High-Confidence Attempt (100%)
Attempt only those questions where you are fully confident (100%).
Solve them carefully while simultaneously filling the OMR sheet.
Ensure zero errors in this roundβaccuracy is crucial.
Round 2: Moderate-Confidence Attempt (50β50)
Attempt questions where you can eliminate options and narrow down to 2 choices.
Use intelligent guessing and elimination techniques.
These questions are important to increase your overall attempts.
Target After Round 1 + 2
Your total attempts should ideally cross 80 questions.
If achieved, you are in a safe and competitive range.
Round 3: Low-Confidence Attempt (25%)
Attempt only selected questions where you have some clue or partial knowledge.
Try to attempt around 5β8 additional questions.
Avoid blind guessingβdo not attempt questions with absolutely no idea.
Important Tips:
Avoid mistakes in sure-shot questions (they cost the most).
Read all options carefullyβUPSC often uses tricky wording.
Do not underestimate simple questions.
Stay calm if the paper seems toughβit's usually tough for everyone.
Maintain focus and composure throughout the exam.

In my view, age plays a significant role in the UPSC CSE interview.
If a 26-year-old aspirant and a 32-year-old aspirant appear before the interview board with similar levels of presentation, knowledge, confidence, and other qualities assessed by the panel, the younger candidate may have an advantage and is likely to receive slightly higher marks.
Therefore, once an aspirant crosses the age of 28, it becomes even more important to focus on securing maximum marks in the UPSC Mains examination.
