The World Population Day is observed every year on July 11 in order to raise awareness about the global population issues, including population control. According to the United Nations Population Fund (UNPF), the day “offers a moment to celebrate human progress”.


“Our world, despite its challenges, is one where higher shares of people are educated and live healthier lives than at any previous point in history. Societies that invest in their people, in their rights and choices, have proven time and again that this is the road to the prosperity and peace that everyone wants—and deserves,” the UNPF said in a statement.

The theme for the World World Population Day 2022 is “A world of 8 billion: Towards a resilient future for all – Harnessing opportunities and ensuring rights and choices for all.”

Terra projects join forces to migrate to the Polygon ecosystem.

Projects that were formerly running on the defunct Terra blockchain have united to assist one another in migrating to the Polygon layer-2 network.

More than 48 different crypto projects that were previously centred on the bankrupt Terra ecosystem have found a revival by switching to Polygon.

In a Saturday tweet, Polygon Studios CEO Ryan Wyatt expressed excitement at his network's ability to integrate several projects to the ecosystem. He implied that Polygon's multimillion-dollar Terra Developer Fund had been successful in luring talent that was unexpectedly thrown into limbo when Terra failed in May.

PicPay, a Brazilian fintech company, will launch a cryptocurrency exchange and a real-world stablecoin.

PicPay, a Brazilian digital payments service, stated Monday that it wants to develop a crypto exchange and a Brazilian real-tied stablecoin in 2022.

The exchange will offer bitcoin, ether, and Paxos' USDP stablecoin, according to the business, which added that the development of its stablecoin will allow users to pay, transfer, and store that cryptocurrency as early as 2022.

PicPay will enter the crypto market to lead its popularization not only as an investment, but also as a way to decentralize payments and other financial services,” Anderson Chamon, vice president of technology and products at PicPay, said in a statement.

Shrimps and whales keep bitcoin afloat in the cryptoverse.

The crypto world's shrimps have joined the whales in a spectacular last stand to end the dismal bitcoin winter.

These two opposing factions are both HODLers - long-term investors in bitcoin who refuse to sell their holdings - and they are both motivated to fight back the bears, despite their portfolios being in the negative.

According to an investigation by analytics firm Glassnode, shrimps, or investors who possess less than one bitcoin, are collectively adding to their balance at a rate of 60,460 bitcoin every month, the most aggressive rate in history.

Whales, or people who own more than 1,000 bitcoin, were adding 140,000 coins every month, the fastest rate since January 2021.

Singapore has 6% of world's crypto funds

According to KPMG, investment in Singapore's crypto and blockchain startups reached $1.48 billion in 2021, ten times the previous year and nearly half the Asia Pacific total.
According to PwC, Singapore is home to 6% of the world's crypto money, putting it in third place behind the United States and the United Kingdom.
Singapore, along with Hong Kong, is eager to take a leadership role in financial technology, including blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Singapore's crypto firms and service providers drew digital asset companies fleeing regulatory crackdowns overseas.
These include Huobi, a cryptocurrency exchange that began in China but now has a significant presence in Singapore.

Venezuela ranks third for crypto adoption

According to a United Nations survey, Venezuela, one of the first countries in Latin America to be labelled "crypto-friendly" by some definitions, placed third in adoption rates. According to the research, which was released last month, the bitcoin ecosystem grew by 2,300 percent between September 2019 and June 2021, with the Covid-19 pandemic being one of the key contributors.
Venezuela is one of the countries with the highest rate of cryptocurrency adoption.

According to a United Nations Conference on Trade and Development report, Venezuela ranks third among countries with the most cryptocurrency usage, trailing only Russia and Ukraine. The survey, which also discusses the origins of this expansion and crypto regulation, discovered that 10.3 percent of Venezuelans owned cryptocurrency.

Swiss Post Offices' Banking Arm Enters Crypto verse.

The banking and financial services arm of Swiss Post, the state-owned enterprise responsible for Switzerland’s postal and other essential public infrastructure services, is reportedly planning to offer its customers direct access to cryptocurrencies.
Postfinance’s head of retail banking, Sandra Lienhart, said,

"Our clients want direct access to this market through their house bank Given the growing institutionalization in the last 18 months, this is the ideal time to enter the market."
