⏳Mining profits are back. But the easy phase won’t last

Bitcoin miner profitability is improving. Daily revenue per 1 PH/s reached ~$37 — the highest since late January. This comes as BTC moved above $81K and demand accelerated.

Spot ETFs added ~$630M in net inflows in a single day. Bitcoin dominance is now at its highest level since July 2025.

This rebound comes right on time. In Q1 2026, miner revenues dropped sharply, ~20% of miners were unprofitable, and hashrate declined by ~13%. Miners sold reserves to stay operational — holdings fell to 10-year lows.

Now margins are recovering. That means competition will increase — and efficiency will define who stays profitable.

⚡AI is changing how miners are valued. But not necessarily how they make money

Miners building AI infrastructure are already getting one major benefit: cheaper financing. Lenders now trust long-term compute and data center revenue more than pure ASIC-backed exposure.

☝️But despite the AI expansion, Bitcoin mining still generates most of the cash flow for many companies

So the industry is entering a strange phase: AI improves access to capital, while mining remains the main business.

👉We broke down this shift in a new LinkedIn article

🔥 How to survive summer heat without losing hashrate

Every summer brings the same problems: overheating, unstable restarts, fan issues, and sudden downtime. But most of these problems can be reduced before they turn into lost hashrate.

Here are some practical tips:
• Lower presets before temperatures peak
• Restart rigs gradually after outages
• Watch chip temps and fan RPM closely
• Clean dust before airflow drops
• Avoid aggressive overclocking in extreme heat
• Stop unstable rigs before boards start failing

Most miners react only after temperatures spike, fans fail, or hashrate drops. But by that point, the hardware is already under stress, shares are already lost, and recovery takes time.

💡Vnish firmware is built to act before minor instability turns into downtime

🚀Bitcoin mining is still carrying the industry — even as miners rush into AI

Public mining companies have started publishing their quarterly reports. And one detail from Riot’s numbers stands out: despite aggressive expansion into AI and data center infrastructure, the majority of the company’s revenue still came from Bitcoin mining.

And Riot is not an exception. Similar patterns are starting to appear across the sector.

• So why does mining continue to generate the strongest cash flow, even with all the attention around AI? • Why is Bitcoin still the financial foundation for many large miners?
🎥We break it down in the new video

🚨Bitcoin mining is getting a new language

Mining pools are now working on a unified communication standard for miners and pools. The goal is simple: lower latency, faster job delivery, better coordination, and more stable mining operations.

Today, even tiny delays between a pool and a miner can affect profitability. In a market where hashrate and difficulty keep growing, efficiency is no longer just about hardware. Communication speed inside the mining stack matters too.

This shift shows where the industry is heading: smarter infrastructure, tighter optimization, and constant performance tuning. As Bitcoin price grows, competition between miners will become even more aggressive.

☝️Miners can’t afford inefficiency

🔥Case Study: How Vnish reduced curtailment recovery time by 60%

Ahead of Summer 2026, more large-scale miners are preparing for the same problem: grid events don’t just shut fleets down — they delay profitable recovery.

One recent deployment:
14 MW S19 XP site operating in a constrained power region.

Before Vnish:
• ~14 curtailments/month
• ~25–28 min to stabilize at target power after each event
• repeated underperformance during ramp-up

Most operators focus on uptime. But during curtailment season, the real losses happen between “online” and fully recovered

💥After migrating to Vnish:
• 90% power restored in ~6–8 min
• Full recovery in ~9–10 min
• ~16–18 min recovered per curtailment

Operational impact:
• ~4–5 MWh recovered per event
• ~$7K+/month regained from ramp efficiency alone

Performance delta:
Typical custom firmware: ~5–7%
Vnish on S19 XP: → up to +24% hashrate

Annualized result:
→ ~$85K/year from faster recovery
→ ~$850K+ total fleet uplift

🔥 Another key takeaway from Bitcoin Conference

We’re sharing another important moment from the Bitcoin Conference panel featuring Vnish Global Head of Sales Bradley Peak.

This time, the discussion focused on one of the biggest questions miners face today: why more operators are moving toward custom firmware — and where the real differences between solutions begin.

On stage, Bradley broke down what separates Vnish from both stock firmware and other custom firmware providers: deeper tuning capabilities, stronger performance gains, and a more flexible approach to optimization under changing mining conditions.

💡As margins tighten across the industry, firmware is no longer just a tool — it becomes part of the mining strategy itself.

⚡Bitcoin mining difficulty expected to rise again

The next Bitcoin mining difficulty adjustment is expected on May 15, with estimates pointing to an increase from 132.47T to 135.87T.

But here’s what makes this situation interesting: despite the upcoming growth, Bitcoin mining difficulty has actually been trending downward for months since the start of the year.

🧐 This usually means one thing — inefficient miners are leaving the network

We recorded a new video breaking down what is really happening inside the mining market right now, why part of the industry is struggling to stay online, and why periods like this often create opportunities for stronger operations.

⚠️Hashprice is back above $35/PH/s/day — the first real recovery signal after a brutal Q1 for miners.

After months of pressure, the market is finally stabilizing:
• BTC holding in the $75K–77K range
• network difficulty back to ~136–137T
• hashprice recovered to ~$35–38/PH/s/day
• a lot of inefficient miners already forced offline

If you made it through Q1 2026 without shutting down, you're in a strong spot now.

What happens next?
Efficiency becomes the deciding edge again. The gap between stock and optimized firmware shows up directly in your margin — and even older hardware stays profitable with proper tuning: undervolting, overclocking, power optimization. Treat the next few months as a prep window. As hashpower comes back online, difficulty climbs and margins tighten fast.

🤩 That's the whole reason VNISH exists:
- squeeze maximum efficiency out of every ASIC
- keep farms stable and online
- manage power and cooling
- stretch hardware lifespan.

If your rigs are running near the profitability line, now's the time to pull every last TH out of them.

✍️ Friday Mining Digest | Week of May 29, 2026 7 days in mining: what changed and what it means for your operation

Numbers of the week
— BTC: ~$73,500 (−2% WoW, geopolitical pressure)
— Hashprice: ~$34–35/PH/s/day (+1.7% WoW per Hashrate Index)
— Difficulty: 136.61T after +3.12% jump on May 15
— Next adjustment: today, ~May 29. Forecast: near flat (−0.16% estimate)

✍️ Key events
1. Difficulty stabilizes — first sign of a floor
After 6 consecutive downward adjustments since January, the May 15 epoch finally flipped positive (+3.12%). Today's adjustment is expected near zero. This isn't a reversal — but it's the end of the freefall. Hashrate is returning, slowly.

2. Public miners are pivoting to AI — and reshaping the landscape
Marathon sold 15,133 BTC in March. Riot offloaded 3,778 BTC. Bitdeer, CleanSpark, Core Scientific zeroed out their treasuries entirely. Bitfarms' CEO stated publicly: "We are no longer a Bitcoin company." In Q1 2026, public miners collectively sold 32,000+ BTC — more than all four quarters of 2025 combined. Hashrate is leaving Bitcoin for AI infrastructure. For those who stayed: less competition, higher share of block rewards.

3. Hashprice slowly recovering
From the February low of $28–29 up to current $35–36. Direction is right. But at $0.06–0.07/kWh most operators need hashprice above $40 to breathe comfortably. We're not there yet.

🤩 VNISH tip of the week

Difficulty has stabilized. While competitors pivot to AI and shut down machines, the remaining hashrate becomes more valuable. Every J/TH you optimize right now compounds over time.

Three things worth checking before the next epoch:
→ Recalibrate autotuner for current hashprice $35–36 range
→ Update power profiles for summer tariffs (demand is rising, prices will follow)
→ Review curtailment scheduling if you're on a demand response contract

🏆 Community win of the week
A Kazakhstan operator running 2000 S19 Pro has stayed profitable for three consecutive months. The formula: switched to VNISH in Q1, configured curtailment during peak tariff windows. "While neighbors were shutting down — we kept mining."

🤩 Mining in June 2026: What You Need to Know Right Now

A new month. A new market reality. Here's what the numbers are telling us — and what it means for your operation.

Key metrics to watch this June:
🗣Network Difficulty: 137.99T — and still climbing. Competition is intensifying. Efficiency is no longer optional.
🗣Hashprice: Recovering from March lows of $28 → now trending toward $32–38. Margins are slowly returning. The window is opening.
🗣BTC Price: Holding steady above $72K. Stability at this level changes the math for every rig in your fleet.

So what does this mean for your farm?

⚡️Higher difficulty = only optimized rigs stay profitable
⚡️ Rising hashprice = now is the time to maximize uptime
⚡️ Strong BTC = long-term planning becomes more predictable

June is the month to stop guessing and start optimizing.

Throughout this month, we'll be publishing in-depth analytics, breakdowns, and actionable insights — so you always know where the market is headed before it gets there.

⚡️Fidelity just put a number on what your mining infrastructure is worth to AWS. It's not flattering.

Cipher Mining signed with AWS: $5.5B, 15 years, 300 MW. IREN signed with Microsoft: $9.7B, 5 years, NVIDIA GB300 GPUs.

Fidelity ran the crossover math. At 20–25 J/TH, hashprice needs to reach $60–70/PH/day for Bitcoin mining to match contracted AI hosting economics. Current hashprice: $35–36. That gap is roughly 70–95%.

So hyperscalers have effectively published a price for what miners built — land, permitted substations, grid interconnects. That infrastructure is worth a lot. Just not to Bitcoin, at current rates.

⚠️Two ways to read this depending on where you sit.

If you're running a new fleet at sub-$0.05/kWh — mining is still the better trade. AI contracts take years to negotiate, capex to convert, and you give up upside if hashprice recovers.

If you're on older hardware at $0.07+ — those AWS and Microsoft numbers are telling you what your site is worth to someone who isn't mining. That's a real option now, not a hypothetical.

Fidelity's mid-year update calls 2026 a year of "structural retooling" — hashrate and difficulty are both down 8–9% from earlier highs as miners redirect capacity toward AI.

Next difficulty adjustment: June 13. Current estimate: −4%.

A less competitive network with recovering hashprice. If your machines are running efficiently right now, that's the setup you've been waiting for since February.

✍️ Friday Digest | Week of June 5, 2026 Mining in 7 Days: The Toughest Week Since February

Numbers of the week:

— BTC: ~$60,000–62,000 (down 15%+ on the week, lowest level since April)
— Hashprice: under pressure alongside the falling BTC price
— Difficulty: 138.96T now → projected -9% adjustment on June 13
— Next difficulty adjustment: June 13. One of the largest downward adjustments of 2026

✍️ Key Events

1. BTC Breaks Below $68K — Worst Day in 4 Months
On June 2, Bitcoin dropped 5% below $68,000, marking its worst single-day decline in four months. More than $727 million in long positions were liquidated within 24 hours.

Several factors contributed to the sell-off: Strategy’s first BTC sale in nearly four years, a major transfer from Mt. Gox-linked wallets, record spot ETF outflows, and escalating geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran.

As of this morning, BTC is testing the $62,000–64,000 range. This is the same zone that marked the February capitulation bottom before the rally above $80K. Bulls are defending this level for the second time this year.

2.Miners Are Sending BTC to Exchanges at Scale
On June 2, miner inflows to Binance reached 24,716 BTC — the highest level since February 5.

That’s approximately 6.8% above the February peak and only the second time in four months that miner inflows have exceeded 20,000 BTC.

There are two possible interpretations:

• Capitulation — miners are realizing losses and shutting down machines.
• Distribution — large operators are using market liquidity to rebalance holdings.

3. Difficulty Adjustment: -9% Incoming
Current projections suggest network difficulty could fall from approximately 138.96T to 125.94T on June 13 — a decline of around 9%.

This would be one of the largest negative difficulty adjustments of 2026.

Context matters: several public mining companies continue redirecting infrastructure and capital toward AI-related opportunities. If the adjustment approaches the projected -9%, it would confirm that a meaningful portion of hashrate has exited the network, improving conditions for remaining miners.

🤩 VNISH tip of the week
It’s been a difficult week.

BTC is down more than 15%, miners are moving coins to exchanges, and network difficulty is heading toward one of the largest declines of the year.

But here’s what matters:

Every time difficulty drops by 9%, network hashrate decreases. Fewer competitors are fighting for the same block rewards.

If your machines remain online through June 13, your share of rewards increases.

⚡️ BTC touched $60K over the weekend. Today it's $63,500. That's not the number miners should be watching.

Hashprice is at $30.77/PH/day — down 18% in 30 days, lowest since April. Network hashrate dropped below 975 EH/s. Blocks averaging 10 minutes 59 seconds instead of 10:00. Machines are going offline.

Bitcoin fell below $60,000 for the first time since 2024. Today's +4% bounce is real. But Israel just struck Iran against Trump's wishes — oil is turning back toward $100. This market stays volatile.

🤩 Here's what actually matters for the next five days.

June 13 difficulty adjustment. Current estimate: −9%, from 138.96T down to ~125.94T. One of the larger downward moves of the year.

The mechanic: when difficulty falls, the same hardware earns a larger share of block rewards. Cost to produce each BTC eases. Not a theory — actual revenue increase per PH/s for every operator still online.

The catch: at hashprice $30.77, being online isn't automatically profitable. At $0.06+/kWh, an S19j Pro on stock firmware is already running in the red. On VNISH with a calibrated autotuner, the breakeven shifts — roughly $5–8/day per device under identical conditions.

Since June 5, miners have posted three consecutive days of net accumulation — first time after six weeks of selling. The flip happened right at the cycle low.
The operators who stayed on are now holding coins. June 13, their economics get better.

⚠️ Bitcoin blocks are running at 11.22 minutes. A week ago the adjustment estimate was −9%. Today it's −10.85%.

That's not a model refinement. That's machines going dark in real time.

The adjustment is expected June 14: from 138.96T down to 123.88T. The network is running 1.22 minutes slower than the 10-minute target.

The reasons are right on the surface. BTC sits around $61,600 — the week of June 5 closed down nearly 20%, the sharpest weekly drop since FTX. Stock-firmware operators at $0.06+/kWh went negative and hit the off switch. Meanwhile public miners have pulled capacity out of the network for $70B+ in AI contracts — by year-end up to 70% of their revenue won't come from mining at all.

Here's what that does for everyone still plugged in.

After June 14, the same hardware mines roughly 11–12% more BTC on the same power bill. Cost per coin drops exactly when the price is hunting for a bottom.

But there's a detail almost everyone misses: you don't have to wait for June 14. Blocks are already slow — which means operators still online are already collecting a larger share of rewards. That's three and a half days of better economics before the books officially change. Every hour of downtime in this window is missed production at the best conditions in six months.

🤩 Our view at VNISH is simple: difficulty drops of 10%+ happen a couple of times a year. How much you extract from one depends on whether your autotuner is calibrated for the current hashprice and your actual tariff — not February's settings.
