🪐Bitcoin will be mined in space
While some miners are rushing into AI, some compute firms are moving in the opposite direction.
The reason is simple:
ASIC miners are up to 30× cheaper per watt than GPUs.
One project that has been building AI data centers in orbit is now adding ASIC miners to its plans.
💥But the real story isn’t about space. It’s about mining economics
In our new video, we break down what actually matters for profitability today:
• What makes ASICs structurally more efficient than GPUs?
• Where is the real cost advantage hiding?
• And what should miners focus on in 2026?

📉Bitcoin hashrate drops below 1 ZH/s
Bitcoin network hashrate has fallen to ~930 EH/s, continuing the downtrend that started after the October peak of 1.1 ZH/s. Unlike short-term dips from weather, this drop reflects miners stepping back as profitability compresses.
Hashprice remains around $30/PH/s, putting pressure on operators with higher electricity or financing costs. Even large public miners are seeing reduced cash flow, leading to machine shutdowns and slower deployment.
The network is already adjusting. Average block times have increased to ~10.9 minutes, and difficulty is expected to fall ~8%, the largest adjustment since 2021 (excluding weather events).
💡Turning off machines is the last option — a simpler way to save costs is using smart firmware

💥Vnish × EMCD: More profit, less cost — From both sides
We’ve partnered with EMCD — one of the most trusted mining pools on the market. This collaboration is built around one goal: help Vnish users mine more efficiently and keep more of what they earn.
The market is simple today: those who control costs and performance stay profitable. Everything else gets pushed out. That’s why we focus on both sides of your setup.
With Vnish firmware, you get clear, measurable gains:
• up to +24% more hashrate
• up to -30% lower cost per TH
• stable performance
Now add EMCD on the pool side. You get flexible terms and a stable infrastructure with 36 EH/s. Reliable pool performance means fewer losses and more predictable returns.
⚡️The result:
• Vnish — more hashrate, lower cost per TH

😨 Bitcoin’s fees drop 27% as network activity slows
Bitcoin is holding near $70K, but the market is clearly in a cooling phase. On-chain data shows transfer volume down 31% over the past month, while daily fees dropped 27%.
For miners, this is not just a side metric — fees remain a meaningful part of total revenue. Combined with already compressed mining rewards, this creates tighter operating conditions across the board.
This stability can be misleading. If Bitcoin moves up, competition will increase quickly. If it drops, margins will tighten even further. In both cases, efficiency is what keeps you competitive.

🎛️ 40% of Bitcoin’s hashrate comes from used machines
The ASIC market is changing. Today, up to 40% of the network runs on older models — mostly S19 series — actively traded on the secondary market. New machines like S21 are powerful, but they are expensive and hard to get.
In 2026, access is the main problem. US tariffs on Asian hardware and customs delays are slowing down deliveries. For many miners, buying new machines is no longer simple — it’s costly and uncertain.
This is why used hardware is back in focus. Not as a cheap option, but as a smart one. With the right firmware, older machines can deliver much higher performance.
From Vnish data:
S19 XP → +16.3% hashrate
S19k Pro → +24.2%
S21 → +14%
T21 → +15.1%

😨Mining economics break down: 1 in 5 miners operating at a loss
Another crypto firm just dropped fresh industry data — we pulled the key numbers
•20%+ of miners are already unprofitable
•Hashprice fell to ~$28–31/PH/s/day in Q1 2026
•Average cost to mine 1 BTC reached ~$80k
The AI shift gets attention, but reality is more nuanced:
•Miners are still choosing cheaper, intermittent power sources. These setups work for mining but are unsuitable for AI
•Mining infrastructure ~$0.7–1M per MW; AI infrastructure ~$8–15M per MW
☝️As a result, even companies expanding into AI still depend on mining
Now the key bottleneck — hardware:
A significant share of the global fleet still runs on S19-class machines. They’re much cheaper than new-gen rigs
But at current conditions:
•Break-even power for S19 XP dropped to ~$0.077/kWh
•At $30 hashprice, anything above ~6¢/kWh is loss-making
The issue isn’t the hardware itself — it’s efficiency per watt.

⚒️Bitcoin hits 20 million mined coins — over 95% of supply is gone
A major milestone for the network: the vast majority of BTC has already entered circulation, with less than 1 million coins still left to mine. The remaining supply will be released slower than ever, following Bitcoin’s fixed issuance model.
We’ve prepared a short video on what this means for miners
• How does this shift the balance of competition?
• Where do margins move as issuance tightens further?
• What becomes the key edge as rewards keep declining?

📌 How to set up advanced stability controls in Vnish Firmware — Part IV
We continue our Mining setup series with another look at the Advanced section
In this part, we cover the settings that help miners stay stable when temperatures rise, chips fail, or startup conditions change:
• Quiet mode — lowers fan speed during cooling
• Downscale preset on failure — automatically reduces performance if the miner overheats or reports errors
• Chain integrity check — verifies that every chip responds and restarts the miner if needed
These settings help protect hardware, prevent unstable behavior, and keep your operation running smoothly under real-world conditions.

🤝CASE STUDY: Vnish increased hashrate by 23% on a 160+ ASIC farm
A mining operator with 160+ ASICs switched to Vnish after another custom firmware could no longer meet the farm’s needs.
The previous solution struggled with several board revisions, offered limited diagnostics, and required frequent manual intervention to maintain stable overclocking.
The operator switched to Vnish because industrial-scale farms increasingly choose the firmware that offers the deepest level of control.
According to the latest University of Cambridge mining industry report, Vnish is now the world’s most widely used third-party ASIC firmware, with 26.4% adoption among miners globally
💥Result: +23% output, less downtime, and full control across 160+ ASICs

🧐 Bitcoin -50% is no longer a market failure
Bitcoin has fallen almost 50% from its October high of $126,000 to around $67,000. In past cycles, that usually meant another 80–95% collapse ahead.
Now market experts say the opposite: a 50% drawdown is a sign of a more mature Bitcoin market, with more liquidity and more institutional capital.
The numbers show it. In 2021–2022, Bitcoin fell almost 80%. In this cycle, the deepest drop has been about 52%. That is still painful, but far from previous crashes.
The same shift is changing miners. They are no longer protecting reserves at any cost. They are protecting cash flow
💡In this market, the key metric is no longer how much BTC you hold. It is how cheaply you can produce it.
