🤑METAPLANET SOLD 10,000 BTC TO BUY 11,000

On October 5, Metaplanet reported its Q3 numbers: 44,000 BTC on the balance sheet. Among public companies, only Strategy holds more.

How the quarter went: they sold 10,000 BTC at $78,925, held the cash, then bought back 11,000 at $86,246. Getting those same 10,000 coins back cost about $73M more.

Their average entry is above market, and they're still adding. Good news for miners who hold what they mine. As long as the farm runs in the green.

⚠️BITCOIN HASHRATE: +16% FROM THE SUMMER LOW

⚡️ Network hashrate is around 998 EH/s. Over the summer it dropped to roughly 860.

That leaves 11–16% to a new all-time high, depending on the tracker. Difficulty is still below its record too: 132.7T vs 156T in October 2025.

All this while some miners are moving into AI. IREN alone has already locked in $4B in annual run-rate revenue from AI capacity. As of early September, hashrate had spent 316 days below its peak, the longest stretch in about a decade.

The network keeps growing anyway. For those who stayed in mining, competition for blocks is heating up again.

⛏$895M TO TURN MINING SITES INTO AI DATA CENTERS

⚡️ SWI Group has raised €800M (about $895M) for AI infrastructure. Its portfolio includes Genesis Digital Assets, one of the largest private bitcoin miners, and SWI plans to convert part of GDA's sites to AI compute.

Back in June, SWI bought ~38% of GDA for $500M. They weren't really buying ASICs, they were buying the power plug: GDA has 1.3 GW of grid capacity across 15 sites, mostly in the US. SWI's CEO says it outright — grid connection is the most valuable resource right now.

If that capacity leaves the Bitcoin network, difficulty will adjust. Miners who stay get a little more BTC per TH.

⚡️ Around October 16, difficulty is set to rise about 5.68%, from 132.72T to ~140T. All else equal, hashprice will drop roughly 5%. BTC dipped below $80,000 today and is now around $82,300.

Machines that were already running on thin margins may slip into the red after the adjustment. Efficiency decides it: the lower your J/TH, the more room you have.
