Scientists named a new spider after a character from One Piece.
Arachnologists discovered a new species of the Bemmerid family in Thailand — Damarchus inazuma. The males of these spiders are whitish in color with a dark gray abdomen, while the females are orange with a black abdomen. The researchers also found a gynandromorph among them: the left half of its body was female — bright orange and larger, while the right half was male — pale white and smaller.
When they saw this spider, the scientists remembered the character Inazuma from One Piece — his body is also divided into two colored halves, and his gender changes from time to time. So they named the spider Damarchus inazuma.

Sleeping in the arms of a loved one can lead to necrosis.
Doctors explain that if the body is not allowed to change position during sleep for a long time, the blood supply to certain areas may be disrupted. Due to constant pressure, tissues do not receive enough oxygen, which can cause them to die.

Americans are turning their phones into landlines — literally attaching them to the wall so they can spend less time on TikTok and endless news feeds.
81% of adults under 30 admit that they spend too much time on their phones, but can't do anything about it. Psychologists advise creating “artificial distance” from gadgets — and it really works.
One girl even made a docking station out of clay and hung it on her kitchen wall. She puts her iPhone there — and, oddly enough, doesn't pick it up until the evening.

Your router is watching you: scientists at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology have discovered that Wi-Fi waves bounce off people and allow them to be “seen.”
It turns out that these signals can be used to identify a person, their posture, position, and even what they are doing — with almost 100% accuracy. The experiment was conducted with 197 participants and the results were confirmed. The main thing is that no special equipment is required for this. Any home router can be used to monitor people.

Every second article on the internet is written using neural networks, according to a recent study by Graphite.
While in November 2022, such materials accounted for about 10% of all content, by the beginning of 2025, this figure exceeded 52%.
Experts warn that if this trend continues, neural networks will begin to “research” their own texts and create new articles based on them. As a result, the circle may close, and the quality of information may decline sharply.

A remote worker was punished for going to the bathroom and not responding in the chat for 5 minutes — now this is considered a violation of corporate policy.
The company even introduced a “five-minute rule”: everyone who works from home is required to notify the team of every trip to the restroom, otherwise they will receive a reprimand.
The manager's letter was leaked online, and a video featuring it has garnered over 218,000 views. An HR expert criticized the situation: “When a boss equates productivity with instant response, it's no longer management, it's policing.”

Scientists have proven that loneliness poisons the brain.
Social isolation acts like a toxin on the brain. In an experiment, rats were divided into two groups: some lived together, others alone.
Those who remained alone developed problems with memory and thinking — their brains were literally worn out. The “sociable” rats, on the other hand, remained sharp-minded.

Scientists have proven that playing games a lot is not harmful to your mental health.
Researchers from Oxford analyzed 140,000 hours of gameplay in 150 games from 703 gamers and found no link between the duration of gameplay and levels of happiness, mood, or symptoms of depression.
Conclusion: it's not how much you play that matters, but why. If games are a natural part of your life, they can actually make you more satisfied and balanced.
