In 1963, Frank Sinatra’s son was kidnapped. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of $240,000. All instructions were to be relayed via a payphone (there were eight calls in total). During one of the calls, Sinatra ran out of 10-cent coins, which he had been inserting into the payphone. And the conversation was cut short at the most crucial moment. This incident had such an impact on Sinatra that from then on, he always carried tightly bound stacks of 10-cent coins in his pockets. He was even buried with the change in his pocket.
