Is World ID linked to personal or biometric data?

World ID is designed to enable anonymous actions. It isn't connected to your wallet—both are separate accounts w/ separate keys that serve different purposes.

Anyone can use World ID w/o providing personal info like names, emails, phone numbers, social profiles, etc.

Everything is optional, & no personal data is disclosed by default, enabling each holder to decide which (if any) personal data to share when using World ID.

A person’s World ID is generated on their device before any biometric checks take place.

Biometrics are only used to verify a person’s World ID and (if necessary) to recover it, and the underlying biometric data isn't shared with any third party when using World ID.

World ID is explicitly not a set of iris images, nor is it the numerical iris code generated from those images.

Instead, the iris code that the Orb outputs is compared against all other iris codes previously generated by all other Orbs.

The Orb is making its way across North America at a scale never seen before. For the first time ever, folks will be able to visit the Orb in Canada, Mexico and the USA, all within the next few weeks.

Canada begins later today at ETH Pragma Waterloo and continues over the weekend at the ETHGlobal Waterloo main event.

Tomorrow (Friday the 23rd), the Orb returns to Miami for another round of signups at the Canvas in Wynwood.

Starting Monday 6/26, the Orb will be available at its new (and frankly epic) location at the Oculus in downtown Manhattan, NYC.

And finally, beginning at the end of next week, Worldcoin will begin its Mexican operations at a brand new location in Mexico City.

So many opportunities to grow the community — and a profound step forward in our work to fulfill the mission of making Worldcoin available to more and more people around the world.
