Women’s belts in the past were woven much broader. They were plain on one side and patterned intricately on the other. It had fringes only on one side which was used to tuck and fasten the belt when worn folded. Belts or Keras in modern Bhutan have evolved. In the sixties, Keras (belts) became slimmer and more stiff with fringes on both ends. Some are plain while others are striped. These days, a wide assortment of Keras are available.
