Lalpari Lake was originally 29 feet deep. According to history the former rulers of Rajkot state built Lake Lal Pari in 1895. It was included in the Victoria Golden Jubilee Water Works. The Lal Pari River, a smaller tributary of the Aji River, supplies water to the lake. The large Lal Pari Lake provides a surreal setting for people to explore the beauty of nature. It gets its water from the surrounding hills and the excess runoff from the Aji Dam, which was built to the south.

This is not much of a tourist place, but a gate to the city. The architecture of the gate is mindblowing, built with Gothic-style windows. The main entry tower of the gate also includes a clock. The entire tower is lit up in the night until 10:00 PM which is a wonderful sight.

It was visible that the restoration of the gate is in progress, so it might be worthwhile to see it when you visit Junagadh next time. Visit the gate early morning when the traffic is less and before 10 at night to see it in its full glory. Don’t miss this gate as it is one of the most amazing places to visit in Junagadh.

​​Sahastra Ling Talav

Sahasralinga Tank or Sahasralinga Talav is a medieval artificial water tank in Patan, Gujarat, India. It was commissioned during Chaulukya(Solanki) rule. It is a Monument of National Importance protected by Archaeological Survey of India

The Sahastraling Talao was originally known as Durlabh Saravor and was constructed by King Durlabh Raja and was repaired and renovated by King Siddharaj during 1093 – 1143 A.D. This is one of the biggest tank of the Solanki Period. The chronicles and inscriptions of the period mentioned the construction of lakes, wells, reservoirs etc. by the royal personages as well as citizens. Of the lakes and tanks, specimens are in the lake at Viramgam, called Mansarovar or Mansar Lake, Tank at Modhera and the famous Sahastralinga Talao at Patan. The tank at Viramgam is almost circular and having flight of steps, which leads down to water.
