πWhat is YPIP?
The Young Professional Internships Program provides the opportunity for interns to work within a cohort, participate in professional development events, engage with industry leaders, and enter into a valuable network of peers. The Young Professional Internships Program is designed to: expand the professional capacity and network of young Uzbeks in the areas of business and STEM; and empower participants with the tools needed to become self-reliant learners.
Aziza says, the internship was a great discovery for her, taking into account her major and background, she had never worked in digital marketing before. βFirstly, it gave me confidence that I can continue to move in the chosen direction because I became interested in this area relatively recently and did not understand well what the work consists of. And our mentor helped with building goals using the SMART method and then how smartly achieve them by practicing useful habits. Secondly, I talked a lot, not only with the team but also with clients, bloggers, celebrity managers, and celebrities themselves. But this is not all, I can note that with each person you need to build a certain communication scheme to achieve a common goal so that both parties are satisfied. Well, and networking, I met many interesting famous people. On my behalf, I will add that I worked offline with the team itself for a maximum of 2 weeks, in which there was also team building before the start of the internship.β
Team building allowed Aziza to join the crew much faster and get to know everyone better, to note some qualifications and character, and understand who will be able to help her in this or that matter. Aziza notes, βEvery Monday we had a zoom meeting at 10.00, I realized how important it is to constantly keep up with the team, also improved my skills in running the Trello platform, and it was also very interesting to watch our general manager and learn from him. He can leverage the strengths of others to achieve common goals and use interpersonal skills to coach and develop others. It inspires me a lot because It can be difficult to maintain such synergy, so I try to learn from him, and apply it in my projects, such as Digital Generation.β
Aziza realized what it means to work in a team and be in time for everything on the deadline, that oneβs every action is interconnected with the actions of others. βAnd brainstorming is a key tool in creativity. Because you create something unique and creative.β Says Aziza.
Good luck with your future career Azizakhon! ππ»

Welcome our next YPIP alumnus 2020, Quyoshbek Mekhmonov! π
What is YPIP?
The Young Professional Internships Program (YPIP) provides summer internships, networking, and mentorship for Uzbek students to gain professional business and STEM skills in a real-world environment.
βIf I had to look back and pinpoint my proudest career moment to-date, it would have to be participating in the Young Professionals Internship Program which was organized by the American Councils. Doing so helped me understand how the materials I studied in textbooks applied to the real working world. If you're wondering what you might get out of participating in this internship program, here is a first-hand account of how interning helped me jump-start my career,β says Quyoshbek.
During the internship Quyoshbek was exposed to the IT field (Alif Tech Company) which was different from his major at the University. It helped him identify the areas he excelled at and those he needed to develop more. He was able to learn new skills, try out new tools along the way, and leverage his mistakes to motivate him further. Quyoshbek says, β I realized what I want to do in the long term and, above all, what I do NOT want to do with my life. The YPIP helped me discover a career path I was passionate about β and one that would give me the chance to learn and grow within a company.β
βThroughout the internship program, I was lucky to have great people supporting me. While I acquired a variety of experiences and skills, I think the impact of having the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals gave me someone to look up to and a goal to work towards,β adds Quyoshbek.
Way to go, Quyoshbek!

What is YPIP?
The Young Professional Internships Program (YPIP) provides summer internships, networking, and mentorship for Uzbek students to gain professional business and STEM skills in a real-world environment.
Khumoyun Buronboev recently won a grant from the Art and Culture development Foundation under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He says, βMy academic success at the university played a big role in getting the grant. But the experience gained in the YPIP was the main reason. I passed the interview confidently using the STAR system. Examiners who interviewed asked about my knowledge of English and added they would give more preference to those who speak it with confidence. The English lessons conducted twice a week, for two months, from a real American teacher helped me to improve my language skills. They were impressed by this fact. Also, we received tips on how to create our resumes correctly! If to compare my resume before the internship and after, one can find the huge difference.β
Khumoyun is thrilled to express his gratitude to the organizers and mentors of the YPIP program. He notes, βI want to thank all from the bottom of my heart for the help and support provided by the organizers. I want to let you know that your work and the time that you have spent with me personally have not been in vain! I reached a milestone! The grant that I received fully covers the cost of my education for a year, and this is a huge help for me and my family in these difficult days. And that's not all. After I graduate from the university and get a diploma, I will be employed under a contract in the structures of the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan. So, I thank YPIP again for everything!β

What is YPIP?
The Young Professional Internships Program (YPIP) provides summer internships, networking, and mentorship for Uzbek students to gain professional business and STEM skills in a real-world environment.
As a university graduate, Mukhayo Berdieva was committed to completing a summer internship program to help her grow professionally and personally. Mukhayo developed soft and hard skills at Family Group, a food and beverage company. In particular, she improved her communication, teamwork, time management skills. Mukhayo applied her marketing knowledge to practice and learned how to work and collaborate in a team environment. βThe Young Professional Internships Program helped me expand my networking, a path for a bright future career,β she says.
Successful business leaders who participated in U.S. exchange programs served as mentors to the interns. βThe best opportunity I have ever got was being mentored by professionals,β notes Mukhayo. βThey helped us to get motivated, and their success stories made me stronger, to improve my self-confidence, and to never stop trying. Mentors always helped and supported participants, which impacted on our personal skills too.β
Working in a real business environment, Mukhayo quickly managed the tasks critical at the beginning of her career. During the eight-weeks internship, participants took part in weekly webinars on various topics necessary to further a career path.
After completing the YPIP program, Mukayo landed a job offer at Ernst & Young, a consultancy firm, working in the tax and legal department. βYPIP provided me with the chance to try and apply gained knowledge into practice. What is YPIP?
The Young Professional Internships Program (YPIP) provides summer internships, networking, and mentorship for Uzbek students to gain professional business and STEM skills in a real-world environment.
Mukhammadjon says, βFirst of all, I am very thankful to YPIP organizers and professional mentors for giving me a great opportunity to have an internship in the private sector, despite the quarantine time. The YPIP is a dream program for students, especially graduates, to implement their theoretical knowledge and learn new practical skills.β
Mukhammadjon had a chance to have an internship in two companies - Dekos and MFaktor. βAlthough my major at university is different from my host companies, I learned how companies have changed their business strategies during the quarantine time and how social media can help business owners grab potential clients' attention. Also, we had to work online, which pushed me to develop my communication, teamwork, leadership, and computer skillsβ he notes.
Mukhammadjon believes that weekly webinars conducted by professionals from different spheres helped him realize how soft skills are important in implementing hard skills in the modern business world.
βThroughout the internship program, I was lucky to have great people supporting me. My director, Hasan Mamasaidov, helped me plan long-term goals, and my mentor, Otabek Yuldashev, influenced me to choose my Master's degree in Business. I want to thank again all from the bottom of my heart for the help and support provided by the organizersβ, adds Mukhammadjon.
