Ramalingeswara Temple was built by Kakatiya General Recherla Rudra Reddy in 1213 CE

Built during the period of Kakatiya Ruler Ganapati Deva

Marco Polo in his visit called it "The Brightest Star in The Galaxy of Temples"

The temple is named after the sculptor "Ramappa"
