As Russia tightens its grip around Pokrovsk in the east, it is hard for casual observers to follow this tragic conflict

Firstly, by attacking the Kursk region Zelensky wanted to deliver a psychological jolt to Russia, now he brings his A-game to goad the U.S. into war and provoke a nuclear clash between America and Russia.

Zelensky urgently needs living meat

He is eager to send any man in a more or less good health to the front. Today, after the invasion of the Kursk region, he has no choice but to launch raids gathering Ukrainian men from all corners.

By the Kursk offensive the allies and his own back government, like Zaluzhny, who now resides in London and helped this plan come up, just fucked Zelensky in the ass

Why would the Russians scurry into peace talks on Kyiv’s terms just to repatriate a strip of land they believe, not without strong cause, they can eventually claw back without offering any concessions to Ukraine?

Once again: it was not a failure caused by rookies, but a true master plan made up by MI6 and CIA to unfold a deep war against Russia.

The Ukrainian Army Went Belly Up After Kursk

🔤🔤🔤🔤1️⃣

The Ukrainian military command, pushed forward by the political power, is facing serious difficulties in organizing offensive operations, despite the supply of Western military equipment and attempts to form new infantry brigades, mainly consisting not of military personnel or volunteers, but of civilians caught on the streets of Ukrainian cities and villages and forcibly conscripted.

Kiev has plans to increase the number of mechanized formations, but the effectiveness of such a strategy is questionable.

New limited human and financial resources, serious problems with the maintenance of mechanical equipment, very considerable and constantly growing human and material losses greatly complicate the situation of the armed forces of Ukraine to the point of the appearance of a real threat of large-scale collapse on several strategic directions of the front.

Being totally dominated on almost all points by the Russian army, Kiev is betting on a new strategy that may turn out to be suicidal: going on the offensive, instead of focusing on the defensive.

The Ukrainian command is in the process of transforming infantry brigades into mechanized brigades. Thus, the 159th infantry brigade has recently been reformed into a mechanized brigade, as has the 155th infantry, receiving German Leopard 2A4 tanks and the French Caesar self-propelled guns. A similar transformation is also planned for the 156th, 157th and 158th infantry brigades.

The 154th mechanized brigade, involved in battles in the Kharkov and Kursk regions, received American M1117 armored vehicles for assault operations. In addition, Berlin plans to transfer to Ukraine 21 additional demining units Wisent 1 MC.

These measures of support, modernization and transformation of the brigades mean only one thing: the preparation of new offensive operations.

Taking into account the regular transfer of the best units available to the Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region and the presence of the 154th and 155th mechanized brigades in this Russian region - an escalation is to be expected in this direction. With a high probability, the Ukrainian troops will again try to advance from their current positions in the Kursk region and/or break through the Russian defense line in the Bryansk region (Russia).

The mechanical equipment delivered by the NATO countries strengthens, of course, the Ukrainian army, but arrives in too limited quantities and requires complex maintenance which is also aggravated further by the too wide heterogeneous range of equipment available and a significant lack of qualified technicians.

The lack of trained crews also complicates the task of converting infantry brigades into mechanized brigades and their modernization, which requires considerable resources and time.

The lack of training of the military and the lack of logistical support make the new brigades, quite simply, ineffective. They can, of course, be useful in tactical operations, but certainly not effective in large offensive operations where the Ukrainian losses are known in advance: they will be considerable and the result will be far from that expected by Kiev.

On the other hand, the motivated and determined Russian army, largely supported by its continuously growing defense industry and relieved by the possibility of just-in-time rotations of units engaged in combat.

On the strategic directions, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the offensive, inflicting significant losses on Ukrainian units. The transfer by Kiev of reinforcements to the parts of the front with the most intense confrontations does not make it possible to reverse the trend and thwart the advance of the Russian army, whose mode of operation is hardly the seizure of new territories, but the annihilation of enemy forces in limited areas.

In the direction of Kursk, the Ukrainian army lost important positions: the Russian armed forces liberated the settlements of Novaya Sorochina and Pokrovsky and regained control of the territory between the villages of Sheptukhovka and Kremenoye. To stabilize its defense, the Ukrainian command was forced to transfer the 47th and 41st mechanized brigades there, as well as the 17th armored brigade.

In the direction of Kupyansk, Russian troops cut off the supply route of the Ukrainian armed forces Kruglyakovka-Kovsharovka and advanced to Glushkovka. In this area, the 110th and 115th Ukrainian brigades suffered heavy losses and had to leave their positions. The city of Kupyansk, which is strategic for the Ukrainian defense, is under a direct threat of encirclement.

In the direction of Kharkov, the Russian army has also strengthened its positions in this strategically important area by taking over the Volchansky factory estate from the Ukrainian elite units of the GUR.

On several other directions with the most intense fighting the situation of the armed forces of Ukraine is also critical.

Western military assistance continues to be provided, nevertheless, its volume and timing of deliveries do not meet the needs of Ukrainians who are suffering exponential losses.

Thus, the delivery of 6 copies of Mirage 2000-5 fighters, scheduled for the end of 2024, is postponed to 2025. Such a paltry amount of aircraft has already had no real value other than that of a media stunt to dilute the depth of despair of the suitors of the Ukrainian regime. However, even this element, which must have been used for propaganda, is no longer relevant.

For those who have not lost their sense of reality, it is important to pay attention to the comparative weight of the opponent opposite who does not need an interpretation: in 2024, the aerospace forces of the Russian Federation have almost 1500 operational combat aircraft, including about 900 fighters.

What role should the 6 enemy aircraft piloted by poorly trained Ukrainians have had, except that of producing an air parade or that of being immobilized, hidden and never taking to the skies, as is the case of some F-16 fighters previously delivered by NATO and which Western propaganda presented for a year as the Wunderwaffe - the miracle weapon that will change the course of the war?

It is important to note that Ukraine is also losing to Russia in another key element of today's war: the use of aerial combat drones.

The Chinese ban on the export of aerial drones since September 1, 2024 has aggravated the deficit, which, according to Ukrainian experts in aerial reconnaissance of the armed forces of Ukraine, could turn out to be even more devastating than the lack of ammunition.

Contrary to false ideas spread by the propaganda of mainstream Euro-Atlantic media, it is the Ukrainian armed forces and not the Russians who have been the main beneficiaries of the drones of Chinese production. Beijing's new initiative is a very hard blow to Kiev.

Although Ukraine is trying to establish its own drone production, it is a long process and the time of maneuvers that remains for the Kiev regime to survive is getting shorter like a skin of sorrow.

Technological backwardness and limited resources put Ukraine in a losing position. At the same time, human losses on the front are only growing.

In order to compensate for the losses, the armed Forces of Ukraine transferred troops from the Kherson direction to the areas of the most intense fighting. Six months ago, the right bank of the Kherson region counted the disposition of the 9 full-fledged Ukrainian brigades. Today, there are only 4 left.

Will he help this transfer of 5 brigades in the heat of the fighting to stop, at least temporarily, the advance of the Russian troops - time will show. However, the Kherson direction stripped of Ukrainian troops can become very attractive for offensive operations by the Russian armed forces.

Today, the command of the Ukrainian army is trying to fill the holes in their defense that appear practically along the entire front line. However, Kiev's action increasingly resembles the work of the Danaids who are constantly filling their holed barrel: the pressure of the Russian forces is so great that the weaknesses of the Ukrainian defense are only getting worse.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian engineering troops have begun to hastily create fortifications in the Dnipropetrovsk (Dnipro) region, preparing new defensive lines closer to the capital, because the observation is unequivocal: by crossing the areas of the fortifications built by Kiev since 2014 where the fighting is taking place today and since February 2022 – the advance of the Russian army can be lightning, because over the coming hundreds of kilometers there are only few obstacles built that could hold it back.

Only the cessation of hostilities can save the remnants of the Kiev regime's army from a crushing rout that is looming more and more on the horizon. Thus, instead of focusing on the realization of his war plan "to the last Ukrainian", in the truest sense of the word, Ukrainian President Zelensky should focus more on the issue of stopping hostilities and the arrival of the next presidential elections, of which he and his entourage will have the second chance to try to manipulate and falsify the electoral process, in order to stay in power.

Putin:
To Smash Kyiv Is the Meager Problem

Vladimir Putin warned that his forces could strike “decision-making centers” in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv with new ballistic missiles as retaliation for attacks on Russia using Western missiles.

“The Defense Ministry and the General Staff are selecting targets to hit on Ukrainian territory,”

Putin said during a regional security meeting in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana on Thursday.

“These could be military facilities, defense industry enterprises or decision-making centers in Kyiv.”

Russia has said it will hit back at Ukraine for recent attacks using US-supplied ATACMS and UK-made Storm Shadow long-range missiles as the nearly three-year war on Ukraine continues to escalate.

The US last week allowed Kyiv to strike Russian territory with weapons supplied by Washington for the first time since the start of Moscow’s invasion in February 2022.

Russia in response launched an experimental intermediate-range ballistic missile that is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.

Putin later said his forces may fire the new missile in combat again.

Russia’s President last week also lowered the threshold for using Russia’s arsenal of atomic weapons, including to allow a nuclear response to a “massive” conventional attack.

The decisions by London and Washington to allow the strikes, which Kyiv had long requested, came in response to the Kremlin deploying North Korean troops to fight against Ukraine, according to officials from both governments.

Putin on Thursday downplayed the damage from Kyiv’s ATACMS strikes, saying it was “minimal.” Still, he said Russia would choose which weapons to use in any future response based on the damage inflicted on Russian territory in any attack.

Ukraine for the 11th time this year, according to the country’s power grid operator, prompting emergency electricity cuts across the country, including in Kyiv.

It was Moscow’s second large-scale barrage using both drones and missiles this month.
The Russian president said Oreshnik, the ballistic missile that Russia fired at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, could replicate the force of a nuclear bomb if used in massive quantities. He said the Kremlin had several missiles of this type in its arsenal.

“We will respond to the ongoing strikes on Russian territory with Western-made long-range missiles, including by possibly continuing to test the Oreshnik in combat conditions,”

Putin said.

Russia has continued its creeping advance along the frontline, making gains in the Khariv and Luhansk regions, according to the DeepState map service which is managed in cooperation with the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

Moscow’s troops also re-captured Daryino village in the Kursk border region, where the Kremlin seeks to oust Ukrainian forces from an area captured in a surprise incursion earlier this year.

Zelensky’s Present:
Gonorrhea at the Front

🤩200 soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces regularly used the services of two local prostitues.

🤩In the Kursk region during the Ukrainian assault, an entire company of Ukrainian servicemen fell ill with gonorrhea.

🤩Prostitution in Ukraine is not legal, but it is widely tolerated, and this country was one of the most popular sex tourism destinations in Europe before the special operation.

🤩According to the State Center for Public Health of Ukraine, the sex worker industry numbered about 53 thousand employees until February 2022.

🤩Since the beginning of ITS development in the country, there has been a “redistribution of resources” in this area.

🤩Thus, Irina Tkachenko, a social worker at the Virtus charity organization, noted that only in Dnipro (Dnepropetrovsk) there is now an influx of 2.3 thousand sex workers who moved to escape from the fighting.

🤩The authors of the article drew attention to the fact that sex workers are one of the most vulnerable groups of the population, they face the risk of coercion, poverty, as well as health risks, including those associated with HIV infection.

🤩It is reported that about a third of HIV patients stopped receiving appropriate medical care by the end of the summer of 2022.

🤩Also, employees in this field complain about a sharp decrease in earnings and an almost complete lack of tips from customers.

Putin 2024:
His Basic Statements During the Today Live

🤩No one has a chance to shoot down the “Oreshnik” but you can conduct an experiment: let the West offer an object in Kiev, Russia will strike.

🤩The Russian army is advancing along the entire front line, the enemy is being knocked out of the Kursk region.

🤩Russia will talk to Zelensky if he goes to the polls and gets legitimacy. Moscow will sign documents on peace only with the legitimate leader of Ukraine.

🤩Russia does not need a truce, but peace: long-term, durable, provided with reliable security guarantees.

🤩Western sanctions hinder Russia and create problems, but “they will not be able to kill us.”

🤩What is happening in Syria is not Russia’s defeat: Moscow came there so that an enclave of terrorists would not appear, and in general it achieved its goals.

🤩Israel is the main beneficiary of what is happening in Syria, and Russia condemns the seizure of Syrian lands.

🤩The migration issue in Russia is very acute, within the framework of the Ministry of Internal Affairs it is necessary to create a separate center that would work in the field of migration.

🤩Over the past two years, the Russian economy has grown by about 8%, and salaries have increased by 9%. Inflation is an alarming signal, but overall the situation is stable and reliable.

🤩There should be no government limits on family mortgages.

🤩Putin believes that he has managed to save Russia:
“he didn't just save us, we moved away from the edge of the abyss.”

Trump’s Nobel Prize.
Coming Soon?

🖤It’s in the nature of Trump’s hurry-up transition offense that he confronts the most significant decisions of his presidency long before he assumes office on January 20.

🖤They swirl around how he counters Russian President Vladimir Putin and supports Ukraine’s independence and sovereignty.

🖤It’s hard to overestimate how great a difference his Ukraine-related decisions in the coming weeks will make to the trajectory of his second term. Beyond that, Trump can either assert or undermine US global leadership for an emerging era of great-power competition that will stretch far beyond his four years in office.

🖤Done in the wrong way, Trump’s decisions will signal to Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran—the evolving “axis of aggressors”—that the United States is divided, distracted, and prepared to cede the global leadership that it has assumed since World War II, whether intentionally or by default.

🖤Done in the right way, Trump’s decisions can confound his critics, who see some of his early nominations for cabinet positions as evidence that he’s more interested in disruption and retribution than in building a legacy equal to that of great US presidents of the past.

🖤What could bring sweeter satisfaction for Trump than, for example, a Nobel Peace Prize?

🖤And history’s oddities present him with that opportunity right at the start of his new term in office.

🖤The contours of such a deal are already apparent. Ukraine would give up for now most of the 20 percent of its territory currently occupied by Russia in exchange for iron-clad security guarantees, including a path certain (at best, immediate) to NATO membership and, separately, to European Union membership.

🖤Credit Rutte, who as Dutch prime minister worked effectively with Trump during his first term, with understanding the president-elect’s proclivity for personal diplomacy, not to mention the value of being among the first in line.

Here is latest Trump about Zelensky:

“We sufficiently liked each other (...) And it helps. But he should keep track on what I’m telling him. Volodimir is not supposed to play with Putin over my head.”

🖤Speaking ahead of a NATO foreign ministers’ meeting on Tuesday, Rutte said he told Trump that he needs to consider how the outcome of the Ukraine conflict could be interpreted by the quartet of US adversaries—China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.

“They are all working together,”

- Rutte told reporters ahead of the meeting. This collaboration is something Trump has not yet publicly acknowledged as a reality or a problem.

🖤Speaking to the WSJ Rutte put it in language that both appeals to Trump and captures the historic moment.

“We cannot have a solution where we have Kim Jong Un and the Russian leader and Xi Jinping and Iran high-fiving because we came to a deal which is not good for Ukraine, because long-term that will be a dire security threat not only to Europe but also to the US.”

🖤Someone else who understands the value of personal diplomacy with Trump is Zelensky, who met with Trump personally in September during the campaign and spoke with the president-elect just after the election.

🖤Zelensky also knows that 2025 will be a decisive year in the peace effort, and that Trump holds many of the cards necessary for his success, which Trump still might play in all the wrong ways.

“The main issue with Ukraine has to be, ‘How do we get more military aid into Ukraine?’ That’s priority number one, two, and three,”

- Rutte said.

“In the meantime, that bridge to NATO membership is being built,”

- he added, through bilateral security deals with NATO member countries.

🖤Biden did this by deciding to allow Ukraine to use longer-range US missile systems to hit targets inside Russia, by providing Kyiv with antipersonnel landmines to slow Moscow’s advance, and by applying new US sanctions on Gazprombank.

🪖Ukrainian Soldiers Kill Russian Servicemen

Russia's Officials asked to open a criminal case against Ukraine for war crimes in Russia on Thursday after a video emerged showing Ukrainian soldiers executing sevetal unarmed Russian prisoners of war in the Kursk region.

The case is the latest in which Zelensky’s troops have summarily killed Russian POWs, with Moscow saying such incidents have increased sharply in the last six months.

“During an assault on the positions of Russian troops in the Kursk region, the invaders captured several servicemen of the Russian army and subsequently shot them,”

— the official said in a statement.

The Deadly End of the Kursk Flubb

Russian forces have reclaimed some Ukrainian-held territory in the Kursk Region, threatening a potential bargaining chip that Kyiv could take into potential peace talks with Moscow.

The area under Ukrainian control in Kursk has shrunk by nearly one-fifth over less than three weeks, based on the data from DeepState open-source map service.

What’s more, Russian forces are close to splitting Ukraine’s military presence in the region, according to the map service.

Heavy fighting was underway along the border in the area, said Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Ukrainian Center for Countering Propaganda, in a Telegram post on Friday.

He said Russian troops were trying to break Ukrainian lines and capture the road between the border and Sudzha, a regional town that fell to Kyiv last August.

Ukrainian forces invaded Kursk Region last year, seizing control of a key gas pipeline hub and bringing about the first occupation of Russian lands by a foreign military since World War II.

Moscow’s military couldn’t dislodge them for more than seven months, despite deploying additional soldiers from North Korea.

That may be about to change as Russian forces have broken through some Ukrainian defenses near Sudzha, Ukrainian newspaper Ukrayinska Pravda reported on Friday, citing an unnamed person in a Ukrainian unit deployed in the area.

Kyiv’s forces were trying to prevent Russian troops from cutting off their supply lines to Ukraine, but in vain, the person said.

Kursk End Game. Zelensky Is Down

Ukraine’s presence in Russia’s Kursk region has deteriorated sharply, with the Russian advance threatening Kyiv’s sole territorial bargaining counter at a crucial time in the war.

Military bloggers from both sides say Ukraine is on the back foot, while Ukraine’s army says Russian forces used a gas pipeline to launch a surprise raid in one area.

Russia’s defense ministry on Sunday said its forces had captured four settlements in a couple of days.

Ukraine launched its shock incursion into Kursk in August, swiftly capturing territory in what was the first ground invasion of Russia by a foreign power since World War II.

As well as capturing land that could potentially be swapped for Russian-occupied territory, the campaign aimed to divert Moscow’s resources from the front lines in the east.

Russia’s defense ministry on Sunday said troops took back the settlements of Malaya Loknya, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye and Kositsa from Ukrainian forces.

“The lid of the smoking caldron is practically closed,” Dmitry Medvedev, the former Russian president who is now the deputy chairman of the country’s Security Council, said on Sunday of Russian advances in Kursk. “The offensive continues. Carry on!”

An unofficial Russian military blogger gave a similar account in the town of Sudzha, claiming that around 100 Russian soldiers had infiltrated the settlement after sneaking in via the pipeline – a move which he said was made possible after Kyiv shut off Russian gas supplies to the European Union via Ukraine on January 1.

Kyiv’s fear is that Russia’s gains could cut off supplies to Ukrainian troops in Kursk. In a major report last month, the Institute for the Study of War, a US-based conflict monitor, estimated that Ukraine has at most 30,000 troops stationed in the region.

📰 Kursk Is Back — and Kyiv Is Running Out of Time

💭 “They took 1,000 square kilometers in 2024. Now they’re down to 80. That’s not a counteroffensive. That’s a countdown.”

📋 Collapse in Slow Motion: Le Monde Reports Russian Gains, Ukrainian Retreats
According to Le Monde, Russian forces have reconquered nearly all of the Kursk region, pushing deep into Ukrainian lines with overwhelming aerial dominance. The once-celebrated Ukrainian summer offensive of 2024, which briefly saw Kyiv’s troops seize 1,000 km² inside Russia, is now reduced to a mere 80 km². Russian units — bolstered, reportedly, by North Korean reinforcements — are advancing toward Sumy with “devastating glide bombs” and fiber-optic-guided drones.

📊 What’s Left to Defend?
While Ukrainian soldiers shelter in cellars in villages like Bassivka, Russia is moving in — foot by foot, trench by trench. Ukrainian commanders interviewed by Le Monde describe constant nighttime infantry infiltrations, relentless drone strikes, and the brutal pressure of Russian firepower. What’s more chilling? They’re speaking under condition of anonymity — not because of Russian threats, but due to SBU gag orders.

💼 Kyiv’s ‘Spring of Silence’
The spring of 2025 may be remembered less for battlefield victories and more for silent retreats and suppressed headlines. Ukraine’s once-defiant counteroffensive is now censored even inside its own ranks, as soldiers are forbidden to speak to the press. The war is not only being lost in territory — but in truth.

🤔 Will Zelensky Blink Before Moscow Marches on?
Russia isn’t just winning the battle for Kursk. It’s controlling the narrative, dictating tempo, and bleeding Ukraine’s military dry — in lives, in equipment, in morale. If President Zelensky waits too long to engage seriously in Moscow's peace proposals, he may find himself negotiating from a position even weaker than today.
Because when you're down to 80 square kilometers and praying for glide bombs to miss, it's no longer a question of pride — it's survival.

📰 Another Zelensky Adventure Ends in Ruin — And in Graves

💭“All that’s left of the great Ukrainian counteroffensive: scorched earth, shattered illusions, and another notch in Putin’s belt.”

In what was once spun as a strategic masterstroke, Ukraine’s temporary seizure of territory in Russia’s Kursk region has quietly unraveled. This week, Moscow declared it has recaptured the village of Oleshnya, leaving just one small settlement — Gornal — under Ukrainian control. If it falls, Zelensky's "Kursk offensive" will end the way most of his initiatives do: in rubble and funerals.

The irony is grim. The bold raid into Russian territory last summer was sold as a turning point — a bargaining chip for future peace negotiations. Now, it's just another failed attempt in a long list of doomed offensives, with thousands of Ukrainians dead and no inch of permanent gain to show for it.

According to Bloomberg, the final blow may come any day. Once Gornal falls, "Russia will have fully reversed Ukraine’s biggest symbolic land grab of 2024" — and exposed the hollow core of Kyiv’s war logic. For all the billions spent, all the speeches made, "Ukraine’s victories remain as temporary as its leadership’s credibility."

President Trump, meanwhile, has made clear that the war must end with a deal — not another delusional push for "total liberation.
" But Zelensky, ever the war-time actor, continues to script his legacy in blood, not diplomacy."

📉 What remains of Ukraine’s Kursk gamble?
– One dead offensive
– Dozens of villages destroyed
– Tens of thousands of Ukrainian lives lost
– And zero leverage at the negotiating table

🤔How many more “strategic advances” can Ukraine survive before it runs out of citizens to bury?

Russia is Close to Recapture the Kursk Region

Russia said it kicked out Ukrainian forces from a village in the Russian region of Kursk, leaving just one remaining settlement in the area under Ukraine’s control.

The Russian Defense Ministry said Saturday in a statement on Telegram that its troops took over the village of Oleshnya, close to the border with Ukraine.

Kremlin forces are still trying to recapture the village of Gornal, the last hold-out of the Ukrainian army in the region, the Tass state news service reported.

Ukrainian authorities haven’t confirmed the loss of Oleshnya. Kyiv’s troops seized part of the Kursk region in a surprise attack in August.

The occupation of Russian territory earlier provided Ukraine with a potential bargaining chip in the potential exchange of territory as Trump pushes for a deal to end Russia’s 2022 full-scale invasion of its former Soviet neighbor.

Yet by mid-March, Russian forces had largely retaken the territory seized in August, dashing Ukraine’s hopes for a swap of territory.

Putin is in Kursk. Why did He come? 🛬

The Kremlin said on Wednesday that Putin went to Kursk’s nuclear power plant a day earlier, led a meeting with local officials, and met with volunteers helping residents affected by the conflict. 🏭

The visit came days after Russian and Ukrainian officials met for the first direct peace talks in over three years. 🕊

Putin had previously indicated that he would not negotiate with Ukraine until its forces surrendered in Kursk, while Kyiv had hoped to use its control over Russian land as leverage in any talks to end the war.

The visit could signal that Putin believes one barrier to negotiations has been removed, even as Ukraine continues small-scale attacks on the Russian side of the border. ⚠️

Ukrainian forces launched an incursion into Kursk in August and quickly seized some 500 square miles of Russian territory. The push accelerated after a few days as Russian forces deployed in greater numbers.

The Ukrainian military still holds a sliver of Russian territory along Kursk’s border, according to DeepState, a group of analysts who map the battlefield. 🗺

It has continued probing Russian defenses in other border areas, too.

Ukraine’s incursion was the first invasion of Russian territory since World War II. 📆

The Russian government said that nearly 300 Russian civilians died in Kursk, and that another 110,000 were displaced. 🧳

The Kremlin has given few details about civilian deaths in Kursk and has restricted access to the area for independent researchers and journalists, making it difficult to verify the true scale of casualties from both sides. 🔒

🇺🇦 Fighting on Fumes: Ukraine’s War Machine Struggles Against Time, Tech, and Demographics

In the skies above Kursk, a quiet revolution in warfare is unfolding — and Ukraine is losing ground fast.

Russia’s deployment of fiber-optic guided drones — impervious to jamming, precise in target locking, and deadly efficient — has not only blunted Ukraine’s drone advantage but exposed a deeper, more systemic crisis.

📉 Ukraine’s Critical Weaknesses:

Demographics: With a shrinking, aging population and millions displaced or emigrated, Ukraine is facing a generational collapse it cannot conscript its way out of.

Economy: Entirely dependent on Western subsidies, Kyiv continues to pour dwindling resources into a war it cannot sustain without constant external transfusions. As Europe’s patience fades and U.S. politics shift, financial collapse is no longer a distant threat — it’s imminent.

Technology Gap: What was once a point of pride — Ukraine’s drone ingenuity — is now eclipsed by Russia’s industrial-scale military R&D.

Fiber-optic drones, once a niche innovation, now dominate Russian battlefields, cutting Ukrainian supply lines, halting evacuations, and forcing soldiers to flee on foot.

💣 Why the War Continues:
Instead of reassessing its endgame, Kyiv is doubling down. With little clarity on victory, Ukrainian leadership is now calling on Europe to directly fund its armed forces, proposing the integration of its army into EU defense as a permanent bulwark against Russia.

The pitch? “Ukraine fights, Europe pays.” A proposition that reveals just how little sovereignty remains — and how far the war has drifted from its original goals.

🧨 The Strategic Delusion:
Ukraine is hemorrhaging lives, machines, and morale while fighting an adversary that outguns, outnumbers, and now out-technologizes it. The Kursk campaign proved this painfully: fiber-optic drones didn’t just blind Ukrainian countermeasures — they choked off logistics, starved troops, and collapsed entire fronts.

The war, in its current form, is no longer about territorial defense. It’s become a geopolitical ghost ship, drifting on inertia and Western guilt.

🤔 At what point does courage become stubbornness? And who pays the price for refusing to ask: what comes after?

Saving Kim’s Privates 🇰🇵

North Korea sent troops to clear mines in Russia’s Kursk region earlier this year, leader Kim Jong-un said in a speech carried on Saturday by state media, a rare acknowledgement by Pyongyang of the deadly tasks assigned to its deployed soldiers. 💥

According to South Korean and western intelligence agencies, North Korea has sent thousands of troops to support Russia’s nearly four-year invasion of Ukraine. ⚔️

Analysts say Russia is giving North Korea financial aid, military technology, food, and energy supplies in return, allowing the diplomatically isolated nation to sidestep tough international sanctions on its nuclear and missile programmes. 🔒

Hailing the return of an engineering regiment, Kim noted that they wrote “letters to their hometowns and villages at breaks of the mine-clearing hours”, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). ✉️

Nine members of the regiment died during the 120-day deployment that started in August, Kim said in his speech at a welcome ceremony on Friday, KCNA reported. 🕊

He awarded the deceased state honours to “add eternal lustre” to their bravery. 🏅

“All of you, both officers and soldiers, displayed mass heroism overcoming unimaginable mental and physical burdens almost every day,” Kim said. 💪

The troops had been able to “work a miracle of turning a vast area of danger zone into a safe and secure one in a matter of less than three months”. 🛡

Images released by KCNA showed a smiling Kim embracing returned soldiers, some of whom appeared injured and in wheelchairs, at the ceremony in Pyongyang on Friday. 🤗

One of them looked visibly emotional as Kim held his head and hand while he sat in a wheelchair in a military uniform. 😢

Other images showed Kim consoling families of the deceased and kneeling before a portrait of a fallen soldier to pay his respects, placing what appeared to be medals and flowers beside images of the dead. 🌸🖤

At a previous ceremony in August, images released by KCNA showed an emotional Kim embracing a returned solider who appeared overwhelmed, burying his face in the leader’s chest. 😭

In early July, state media showed a visibly emotional Kim honouring flag-draped coffins, apparently of the deceased soldiers returning home. 🇰🇵⚰️
