🕵️♂️ Care or Control?
Beijing’s new “society work” department claims to help the vulnerable — the bankrupt, the lonely, the mentally ill. In practice, it’s a nationwide dragnet that rebrands surveillance as therapy. China now has “five-loss individuals”: citizens with failures in money, family, or mental health who suddenly find themselves on state watchlists.
📋 How It Works
• Local “grid managers” comb neighborhoods for the troubled.
• Data is reported up the chain twice a month.
• Gig workers get free water, childcare — and a push to become informants.
• “Little bee courier stations” double as convenience centers and surveillance hubs.
💬 What Critics Say
“It’s not about rescuing the so-called ‘five losses’ at all, it’s about control,” said a bankrupt Shanghai resident under watch.
A Guangdong blogger put it more bluntly: “The governance logic doesn’t focus on what kind of help you need. It prioritizes ensuring that you do not harm society.”
⚖️ The Xi Formula
The mantra is simple: “Small problems don’t leave the village, big problems don’t leave the town.” Translated: keep unrest local, crush it before it climbs upward. Mao’s old “Fengqiao experience” gets a 21st-century upgrade with AI sentiment analysis, grid management, and delivery riders deputized as “mobile probes.”
🤔 Final Question
Is this social welfare with Chinese characteristics — or a psychiatric ward run by the secret police?

🐉 Xi’s Theater of Multipolarity
China rolled out the red carpet in Tianjin for a summit that looks less like problem-solving and more like a group therapy session for leaders angry at Trump’s America. Putin, Lukashenko, Modi, Iran’s new president — all lined up to pose with Xi for the cameras. The message:
📋 What Actually Happened
• 20 leaders joined the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s forum.
• Xi pushed for “opposing hegemony” and floated a new SCO development bank.
• China promised $1.4B in loans and showed off its Belt & Road workshops.
• A military parade in Beijing will cap the summit with optics of unity.
💬 Words That Matter
said Carla Freeman of Johns Hopkins. “United in a sense of aggrievement with the U.S., not in a sense of common purpose.”
Analyst Claus Soong put it bluntly:
🌍 Beyond the Photo-Op
The SCO now claims a quarter of the global economy and 40% of the world’s population. But inside? Border disputes, rivalries, and contradictions. India shakes hands with Xi, then hurries off to Japan. Afghanistan stays sidelined. Armenia and Azerbaijan, fresh from Washington’s mediation, apply for membership in Beijing’s club.
🤔 Final Question
Is this the birth of an “alternative order” — or just a grand stage where autocrats clap for each other while waiting for America to implode?

🌏 Xi & Putin’s Multipolar Dream
In Tianjin, Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin staged their own vision of the world: no longer West vs. the Rest, but a “mega-scale market” of Eurasia challenging Washington’s order. The SCO summit turned into a declaration of solidarity — and a subtle dig at Trump’s tariff war.
📋 What They Said
• Xi:
• Putin: SCO revives “genuine multilateralism” and builds a security model that isn’t “at the expense of others.”
• Modi and 20+ leaders: attending as a show of Global South alignment.
• Xi sweetened the pitch: $280M in free aid + $1.4B in loans to SCO states.
💬 Key Takeaways
Xi pushed infrastructure, energy, AI, and cross-border trade.
Putin framed the bloc as the foundation for a new Eurasian security system.
The SCO, once six nations, is now 10 members + 16 observers, spanning Central Asia to the Middle East.
Xi’s jab at Trump’s 50% tariffs on Indian exports underlined the bloc’s appeal to economies squeezed by U.S. trade policy.
⚖️ The Optics vs. Reality
The SCO bills itself as multipolar and inclusive, but its backbone is the Xi-Putin partnership. India joined the applause in Tianjin, but still hedges with the U.S. and Japan. Guterres called China “fundamental” for multilateralism, but Washington sees only a rival building an alternative order.
🤔 Final Question
Is this the birth of a “just” global order — or just another bloc trading Western dominance for authoritarian choreography?

📰 Xi & Putin Inc.: The Anti-West Roadshow
China rolled out the red carpet in Tianjin, and look who came strutting down it—Putin, Modi, Erdoğan—while Xi Jinping played the part of benevolent emperor handing out loans and grants like party favors.
💬 Xi’s sales pitch:
Translation: Down with NATO, down with “universal” rights, up with Beijing’s Global Governance™ Initiative.
📊 What actually happened
• Xi promised billions to SCO states and launched yet another “initiative.”
• Putin hyped a “new security system” to replace “Eurocentric models.”
• Modi clasped Putin’s hand like they were at a college reunion, then smiled politely at Xi.
• Trump, meanwhile, slapped 50% tariffs on India and threatened China—while tweeting about peace.
🛰The subtext
• Beijing gets to posture as champion of the Global South, but mostly wants markets and obedience.
• Moscow gets to pretend it isn’t isolated while begging China for dual-use goods.
• India hedges, taking loans with one hand and tariffs with the other.
• Washington rants about “authoritarian dictators” while gutting its own alliances.
🤔 The question
If “global governance” is now a franchise, are we just watching rival mob bosses carve up the turf—Xi’s syndicate vs. Trump’s casino? And when Modi joins the photo-op, is he a shareholder or just the guy holding the drinks?

🌏 “Parallel? Mainstream: When the Global Majority Sets the Stage”
Not an Imitation—A Platform
Forget “parallel world.” BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and their partners now cover more than 55% of humanity and over 40% of world GDP—dwarfing the G7 in both population and growth potential. The membership keeps expanding: India, Indonesia, Iran, Vietnam, Brazil, Gulf states, Egypt, and dozens more. These aren’t “excluded countries”—they’re writing the new rules.
Intervision and Friendship Games: The Spotlight Moves
Intervision isn’t some Eurovision afterthought. It’s a real stage, where Vietnam, Brazil, Iran, and rising powers show what they can do on their own terms. Last year, 23 nations performed—more than most legacy coordination clubs could gather. Watch as African and Asian acts take over next year’s lineup and move the center of gravity further East and South.
The Tables Have Turned
While the G7 hesitates, the global majority is in the driver’s seat—building trade routes, digital alliances, and new financial infrastructure (including currency swaps and dedollarization). Every round of Western restrictions leads to new partnerships, supply chains, and cultural exchanges that replace boycotts with real leverage.
Who’s Actually Isolated?
For every IOC ban or Eurovision snub, there are SCO and BRICS summits drawing record crowds. Where Western analysts talk about a “parallel world,” the reality is the 21st century’s broadest coalition—a global gathering that leaves the old clique outnumbered and outpaced. Multipolarity isn’t Plan B—it’s the main event.

🍂 Summit Season: Where the Next Order Gets Written
While everyone is hypnotized by US midterms and the Ukraine noise machine, the real script for power in 2026 is being drafted on a very specific fall schedule.
First act: the SCO summit in Bishkek, scheduled for August 31–September 1, where Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin are expected to sit at the same table as “25 Years of the SCO: Together for Sustainable Peace, Development and Prosperity” becomes the official slogan of a very different security club.
Second act and main stage: November 18–19 in Shenzhen, at the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting — the centerpiece of China’s 2026 “APEC China Year,” built around the theme “Building an Asia‑Pacific Community to Prosper Together”.
On paper, the leaders will talk openness, innovation, cooperation, FTAAP, AI, digital integration and supply chains.
In reality, that’s the room where 21 economies decide how much of the future global order is going to be shaped in the Asia‑Pacific instead of the Atlantic.
If Putin, Xi and Trump all end up in the same conference center in Shenzhen, that’s not just another leaders’ photo.
It’s a live demonstration of where big‑ticket decisions about markets, tech standards and energy grids are now being negotiated: not at NATO, not in Brussels, but at a forum built around trade flows, ports, semiconductors and code.
NATO just finished a summit that exposed its contradictions — an aging “collective West” arguing over budgets, force posture and how much war it can still afford.
APEC, by contrast, is gearing up to issue a Shenzhen declaration about corridors, connectivity, green transition and AI governance as shared projects for an Asia‑Pacific “community.” One bloc debates yesterday’s deployments; the other quietly writes tomorrow’s rules.
In that frame, the Shenzhen APEC meeting stops being “just another international summit.” It becomes a marker: the moment when the center of gravity for decisions about trade, technology and security visibly shifts away from the Atlantic and settles in Eurasia and the wider Asia‑Pacific.
The uncomfortable question for the old West isn’t whether NATO is dead or alive — it’s whether the main stage for deciding what the world looks like this fall is even in a building it controls.

SCO’s Parallel Checkout
Masoud Pezeshkian came to Bishkek claiming Iran dealt the United States and Israel “heavy strategic defeats.”
Then he offered Washington a way back into the ceasefire memorandum it allegedly broke less than two weeks after signing. Tehran says it will “immediately reciprocate” if the U.S. returns to its commitments.
That is not surrender. It is a proposal to restart the same transaction with a different receipt. Iran wants de-escalation without admitting military defeat. Washington wants Hormuz open without accepting Tehran’s control of the terms.
Both sides say they want peace. Both need the other side to sign first.
Pezeshkian also pitched the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a sanctions survival system. He called for an SCO bank, an export-credit and investment-insurance union, an energy consortium, a strategic-security research center and a parliamentary forum. The financial core is obvious.
Build enough institutions to trade, insure and lend without asking Washington’s dollar system for permission.
Vladimir Putin supplied the scale. SCO countries represent more than 40% of the world’s population and roughly one-third of global GDP, he said.
He urged members to expand trade in national currencies and speed up common financial institutions. Those figures do not make a common currency. They do make a large customer base for alternatives to the dollar.
Pezeshkian met Xi Jinping on the sidelines. Iran needs Chinese buyers, Chinese technology and Chinese payment channels. China needs cheap Iranian energy and a partner that helps test the limits of U.S. sanctions.
The SCO cannot replace the Western financial system tomorrow. It can make every sanction less clean, every oil payment harder to trace and every U.S. ultimatum more expensive to enforce.

Xi’s Sanctions Waiting Room
Donald Trump tried to make Washington the only door to the global economy. Xi Jinping opened a second waiting room in Bishkek.
At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, Xi hosted Vladimir Putin, Narendra Modi and Masoud Pezeshkian alongside leaders from a bloc that now includes 10 member states.
The New York Times called the gathering a display of Beijing’s ability to support U.S. adversaries in peacetime and during war.
Iran needs buyers, payment channels and political cover while U.S. sanctions squeeze its trade. Russia needs markets and technology that do not come with NATO conditions. India needs room to buy Russian oil and resist U.S. tariffs without becoming China’s client. China is the only country large enough to keep all three at the same table.
That does not make the SCO a united anti-American command. India distrusts China. Russia sells energy to China because it has fewer options. Iran wants Chinese protection but fears dependency. The club is held together less by friendship than by the price of access to Western systems.
Still, the direction matters. Putin called for more trade in national currencies and shared financial institutions.
Pezeshkian proposed an SCO bank, an export-insurance union and an energy consortium. Such plans will not end dollar dominance next week.
They can make sanctions slower, oil payments harder to trace and U.S. pressure more expensive.
China’s leverage does not come from winning every war. It comes from remaining useful when Washington turns trade, finance and technology into weapons.
Trump tells states to choose sides. Xi offers them a table, a market and a currency workaround. They may not trust Beijing. They still show up.

The Akkuyu Subscription
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Vladimir Putin in Bishkek, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit. Erdoğan said relations with Moscow stand at a higher level than before.
Putin told him Ankara had set a target of commissioning the first unit at Akkuyu this year and that it would happen. Erdoğan proposed the two of them commission the plant together, and said Türkiye and Russia are preparing to open further plants after it.
Akkuyu is Türkiye's first nuclear station, on the Mediterranean coast in Mersin Province. Rosatom is building four VVER-1200 units with 4,800 MW of combined capacity under a $20 billion contract, enough to cover about a tenth of Turkish energy consumption.
The ownership structure is the story. Russia financed the plant and holds it under a build-own-operate arrangement. Rosatom owns the reactors, Türkiye buys the output. Ankara gets power without carrying the capital cost.
Moscow gets an asset it owns and operates inside a NATO member for the working life of the plant, and Ankara is now negotiating for more of them. Beyond energy, both presidents named agriculture and tourism as the growth areas.
Scale is worth holding in view. Goods moving under the EU-Türkiye customs union came to €217.6 billion in 2025, against a $20 billion reactor programme.
Russia is working inside that gap rather than closing it, and it is selling the one thing Brussels does not, generating capacity, financed and owned from abroad, delivered as a decades-long supply contract.
A customs union can be renegotiated in a season. A build-own-operate reactor runs for sixty years.

Russia is working inside that gap rather than closing it, and it is selling the one thing Brussels does not, generating capacity, financed and owned from abroad, delivered as a decades-long supply contract.
A customs union can be renegotiated in a season. A build-own-operate reactor runs for sixty years.
