Farming in Bihar Hit By Siltation in Major Canal System: CAG
Heavy siltation of major canal systems, including the Eastern Kosi Canal System (EKCS), the largest major irrigation project of Bihar, is now proving to be a bane for the state since it has resulted in low water discharge and ultimately affecting the crop production, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report on the outcomes of surface irrigation projects in Bihar revealed.
The Kosi project is an international project between India and Nepal in accordance with the Indo-Nepal Agreement of 1954.

Bihar, WB to Form Joint Panel to Resolve Link Canal Dispute
Bihar and West Bengal on Saturday agreed to constitute a joint committee to amicably resolve the long-pending dispute over construction of an 8-km-long link canal in the jurisdiction of West Bengal to facilitate irrigation facilities in 67,000 acres of land in Kishanganj district.
The decision was taken at the 25th meeting of the East Zonal Council (EZC) held in Kolkata.
As per an agreement signed between Bihar and West Bengal in 1978, Bihar is to get water from Mahananda river's Phulbari barrage in West Bengal for irrigation in 67,000 acres of land in the bordering Kishanganj district.

Bihar Among the Top Five States Consuming Nano Urea
Figures tabled in the Lok Sabha during the ongoing winter session of the Parliament show that between August 2021 (when production of Nano Urea began) and December 12, 2022, Bihar (30.67 lakh bottles) is among the five top states consuming Nano Urea which has zero government subsidy.
The sales in Uttar Pradesh, which is the top state in selling Nano Urea, stands at 79.19 lakh bottles.
IFFCO started commercial operations of its first manufacturing facility of Nano Urea liquid fertiliser at Kalol in Gujarat on August 1, 2021.

संसद के चल रहे शीतकालीन सत्र के दौरान लोकसभा में पेश किए गए आंकड़े बताते हैं कि अगस्त 2021 (जब नैनो यूरिया का उत्पादन शुरू हुआ) और 12 दिसंबर, 2022 के बीच, बिहार (30.67 लाख बोतल) नैनो यूरिया की खपत करने वाले पांच शीर्ष राज्यों में से एक है।
