Why are the attacks on science so dangerous? Why do we need science for revolution & emancipation?

...the goal of the new communism is not revenge for those who have been subjected to real horrors under this system of capitalism-imperialism; the goal is the emancipation of humanity as a whole, from every way in which one part of society rules over, exploits and oppresses others. As one key expression of this, there is this crucial principle of the new communism:
The new communism thoroughly repudiates and is determined to root out of the communist movement the poisonous notion, and practice, that “the ends justify the means.” It is a bedrock principle of the new communism that the “means” of this movement must flow from and be consistent with the fundamental “ends” of abolishing all exploitation and oppression through revolution led on a scientific basis.

9/11 was a watershed moment ... but not for the reasons people think.Excerpt from a Q&A following a talk by Bob Avakian in 2003 titled “Revolution: Why It’s Necessary, Why It’s Possible, What It’s All About”

Excerpt from Bob Avakian’s 2012 talk “REVOLUTION—NOTHING LESS!”
“Socialism is three things: a new economic system, a new system of political rule, and a transition aiming for communism throughout the world.”

Despite the claims otherwise, China is a capitalist-imperialist country
Excerpt from 2025 The Bob Avakian Interviews, part 2
“There is the particular case of China, where there was a thoroughgoing revolution which, in 1949, won real liberation—abolishing imperialist domination of the country—and then advanced beyond that, over the next several decades, building a socialist system with the goal of eliminating and uprooting relations of exploitation and oppression not just in China itself but finally in the world as a whole. But that revolution has been reversed, capitalism has been restored in China, and China has emerged as a major capitalist-imperialist power itself. It is very important to understand why and how this happened.” –Bob Avakian, Revolution #40, “Decolonization”...and revolution.

“One big reason why so many people believe that a revolution and a fundamentally different and much better world is not possible is because of the notion that there is a ‘human nature,’ which cannot really be changed. But the fact is that there is no such thing as ‘unchanging human nature.’ People can and do change all the time, especially with changing circumstances.”

“When you believe in things that don’t exist, you suffer”
–Bob Avakian on the need for science to emancipate humanity
“The basis for communist morality is contained, in a concentrated way, in what Maoists refer to as the ‘4 Alls.’ This is drawn from the summary by Marx of what the communist revolution aims for and leads to: the abolition of all class distinctions (or ‘class distinctions generally’); the abolition of all the relations of production on which these class distinctions rest; the abolition of all the social relations that correspond to these relations of production; and the revolutionizing of all the ideas that result from these social relations. (See ‘The Class Struggles in France, 1848 to 1850.’)”

“My answer to all these people who complain about all the immigrants coming cross the border:
You want to have all the plunder and all the destruction and all the disruption and all the upheaval that your system causes and all the exploitation, including of little children all around the world, which wreaks havoc in these countries, and then you want to complain when the people come here. No you cannot have it both ways motherfuckers.”
