🚁 🇺🇸 🏛 The new helipad on the White House South Lawn was christened today as a U.S. Marine Corps VH-92A "Patriot" departed as 'Marine One', marking the first operational use from the site. The helipad has a heated concrete base topped with granite plates, with the presidential seal engraved into the surface. Sikorsky, the VH-92A's manufacturer, funded the roughly $6 million project, a contribution tied in part to damage the aircraft's exhaust and rotor wash had caused to the lawn.

📖 🇮🇷🛢 Hormuz is the largest energy supply shock on record, says McKinsey At its peak, the Strait of Hormuz disruption took 14% of global oil and gas supply off the market. That is more than double the 1970s oil shocks in relative terms, and more than six…
🔋 🚗 📈 Nicolas Fulghum on X:
EV Adoption is booming around the world
The Hormuz crisis once again revealed the risks of an energy system reliant on fossil fuels and countries are taking notice.
Growing EV fleets have saved oil importers more than $20 billion since the start of the war.
Several markets saw a rapid acceleration in the adoption of fully electric vehicles (BEVs) following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in March.
For instance, Australia's BEV sales jumped 136% compared with the previous six months.
EVs offer oil importers a new route to energy security.
Denmarks booming EV fleet already displaces the equivalent of 14% of the country's national oil consumption.
EVs saved China over $14 billion in crude oil imports in the six months since the Iran war began.
Surprisingly absent from the trend? The United States.
An early EV leader, US BEV share has dropped in recent months after the EV tax credit expired.
It is now being overtaken by countries like India and Brazil, with Japan not far behind.
Of the 56 countries we are tracking at Ember, 49 have overtaken the US on electric car adoption.

‘So the Saudi-Houthi war, while it is certainly endogenous to Saudi-Houthi relations, is also a proxy war between the two global coalitions. It is in part a contest between the war-making techniques and weapons at the disposal of the two sides. The outcome of this struggle will therefore have important consequences for the global balance of power. The side that prevails will emerge with much greater military prestige.’
‘We can therefore state with high confidence that the Saudis will eventually be forced to sue for peace and offer substantial concessions to the Houthis, up to and including recognizing them as the legitimate government of Yemen. This will be the second strategic defeat for the geopolitical West and a victory for the global insurgency against it.’

📝 🇨🇦 🇨🇦 Fortress Laurentia: Is Canada East the Future? | Fortissax
What if Canada lost its Western provinces—whether by U.S. annexation or secession?
What if Toronto was a free city-state?
If B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba joined the U.S.,or were annexed tomorrow what remains of Canada would be:
⚜️ Quebec
🍁 Ontario (minus Toronto)
☘️ Avalon (NB, NS, PEI, NL)
Toronto is already a world apart from the rest of Canada. It’s a city where:
▪️ 57% of the population is foreign
▪️ European-origin Canadians are a minority
▪️ Liberal-globalist politics dominate
By excluding Toronto, Laurentia would retain a strong Anglo-French identity, making up the territory of the four original provinces features on the very first Canadian Red Ensign.
Demographics of the new state (~15.5M people):
▪️ ~90% Ethnic Canadian
▪️ ~55-60% French Canadian (Quebec + Acadians)
▪️ ~35-40% Anglo-Canadian (Ontario + Avalon)
Economically, Laurentia would be viable with a GDP of ~$1T CAD—comparable to Sweden or the Netherlands.
It’s key industries would be:
⚡️ Quebec’s hydroelectricity & industry
🏭 Ontario’s agriculture, manufacturing & finance
🌊 Avalon’s fisheries, shipping & offshore oil
Laurentia would inherit ~45% of Canada’s economy, with a GDP of ~$1T CAD and federal revenue of ~$205B-$230B. With a smaller government and no equalization payments to the West, its budget would be leaner, more efficient, and focused on national interests.
With ~45% of Canada’s economy, Laurentia would take on ~$500B-$550B of national debt—resulting in a manageable ~50-55% debt-to-GDP ratio. Strong exports from hydro, manufacturing, and shipping would keep finances stable without Western subsidies.
With a GDP of ~$1T CAD, it would be:
▪️ Richer per capita than today’s Canada
▪️ More industrialized than most of Europe
▪️ Energy-independent, with massive hydro & offshore oil reserves
This would be a self-sufficient nation.
Without Alberta’s oil but with Quebec’s hydro and Atlantic offshore reserves, Laurentia would be energy-independent and export-driven. With a balanced budget, key trade routes, and a streamlined government, it would be economically stronger than post-national Canada.
Laurentia would keep all key trade routes. The St. Lawrence Seaway secures Atlantic access, while the Quebec-Windsor corridor keeps manufacturing tied to U.S. markets. With Montreal as a hub and ports in Halifax & Newfoundland, trade with Europe & the U.S. stays strong.
Laurentia could finally build high-speed rail along the Quebec-Windsor corridor, linking Montreal, Ottawa, and Laurentian Ontario. With Toronto gone, funding wouldn’t be drained by the GTA, and a smaller, denser population would make HSR viable for business & travel.
Politically, Quebec would dominate this new Canada—but not entirely.
The country could be structured as:
⚜️Quebec – The economic & cultural heart
☘️Avalon – A unified Maritime province
🍁Laurentian Ontario – Traditional Ontario, excluding Toronto.
Montreal would be the natural capital of Laurentia—bilingual, historic, and economically vital. As the new political and financial hub, it would balance Quebec and Anglo-Canada, replacing Ottawa as the seat of power while solidifying the nation’s Anglo-French identity.
Unlike Toronto or Western Canada, Laurentia would remain culturally, ethnically and historically rooted. Immigration would be low, assimilation would be mandatory, and Anglo-French cooperation would be essential.
Foreign policy would shift. Laurentia could:
▪️ Strengthen ties with Europe
▪️ Maintain trade with the U.S. but avoid dependency.
▪️ Take a neutral stance—much less Americanized, but still Western-aligned.
A North Atlantic power, retaining most of its capabilities.
Could it survive?
Absolutely. An ethnically, culturally homogenous, bilingual nation with strong industry & trade links could thrive. It would be:
▪️ More stable than today’s Canada
▪️ More cohesive without Toronto & Western demographics
▪️ A true successor to old Canada
The result: Laurentia, centered around Canadas’ historic core but without post-national disaster.
