Dear Parents and Guardians,

Warm greetings from the school.

Please note that the school will be closed on Friday, 6th June in observance of Eid ul Adha, which is a public holiday.

Following this, Monday, 9th June & Tuesday, 10th June will also be holidays for a brief mid-term break.

School will resume as normal on Wednesday, 11th June.

We hope you enjoy the short break ahead.

Warm regards,

Cambridge Academy Ethiopia
Dear Parents and Guardians,

Due to ongoing construction work related to the corridor project, the road from the school towards Goro is currently closed, making the back gate (card entry gate) inaccessible.

We kindly request that you drop off your children at the main gate (in front of CBE) until further notice. Our school staff will be present to assist with a smooth and safe drop-off.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time.

Warm regards,

Cambridge Academy Ethiopia
Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation this morning. We truly appreciate your support during the drop-off process, especially given the ongoing construction and the inconvenience it has caused.

As the road closure continues, we kindly ask for your continued cooperation to help us ensure a safe and smooth experience for all students.

Please note the following updates:

- The side gate (previously used for vehicle entry) will remain closed.
- We kindly request that you park outside the school compound and walk in to pick up your child. Our staff will be available to facilitate a quick and efficient pick-up process.
- For morning drop-offs, please continue to drop students at the main gate.

These temporary arrangements for both drop-off and pick-up will remain in place until further notice.

Once again, we sincerely thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Warm regards,
Cambridge Academy Ethiopia

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We hope this message finds you well.

Attached, please find the final student-led newsletter for the academic year 2024–2025. We are so proud of our students for curating and publishing these editions with such creativity and commitment.

Today marked the last day of school, and what a wonderful year it has been! We wish all our families a joyful holiday and a well-deserved, relaxing break.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, 26th August at 8:00 AM.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I trust this message finds you well.

As we continue to build a thriving, happy, and academically enriching environment for every child at Cambridge Academy Ethiopia, I want to thank all families who have already completed the re-registration process for the 2025–26 academic year. Your ongoing trust and support are truly appreciated.

For families who have not yet completed re-registration, I kindly remind you that time is of the essence. The deadline for re-registration was May 31st, 2024, after this date we cannot guarantee your child a place, it should be noted that places are extremely limited due to a high volume of new applications. We want to ensure your child retains their place at the school — failure to complete re-registration may result in your child’s place being offered to another applicant.

To secure your child’s place, please ensure that:

The re-registration fee has been paid.
Any outstanding tuition or fee balances have been cleared.
You have not received any specific communication regarding other re-registration concerns (e.g., behavioural or support-related issues).

Thank you once again for your partnership and support in creating a school community where every child can flourish. We look forward to welcoming all returning students in the new academic year.

If you have already completed re-registration, no further action is needed — and we thank you sincerely.

If you have any questions or need support completing the process, please contact the school office at your earliest convenience.

Warm regards,
Mark Whitfield

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am delighted to share that Cambridge Academy Ethiopia is beginning a new and exciting chapter in our development — we are working towards achieving full accreditation by the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) by June 2027.

What is COBIS?
COBIS is a globally recognised organisation that represents and accredits high-quality British international schools worldwide. COBIS Accreditation is a rigorous, evidence-based process that examines every aspect of school life — from student welfare, learning and teaching, governance and leadership, to our facilities, safeguarding policies, and overall school ethos.
Achieving this prestigious recognition will place Cambridge Academy Ethiopia among the leading British schools across the globe — and confirm our commitment to delivering an outstanding education grounded in excellence, integrity, and care.

What Will This Mean for Our School?
Over the next two years, we will work systematically through 9 key COBIS Standards, including:
Safeguarding and Student Welfare
Learning and Teaching
Leadership and Governance
Communication and Community Engagement
Facilities, Extra-Curricular Activities, and Global Citizenship

We have already developed a detailed 24-month action plan and timeline to guide this process, which will involve all areas of school life. This will include reviewing and enhancing our policies and procedures, investing in staff training, and strengthening how we monitor and support each student’s academic and personal growth.

What Will This Mean for You and Your Child?
You can expect an even greater focus on student safety, wellbeing, personalised learning, and continuous improvement.
Our commitment to being inclusive, transparent, and responsive will be strengthened through clearer communication and regular feedback opportunities.
Students will benefit from enhanced learning opportunities, a safe and nurturing school environment, and the pride of attending a school working at an internationally accredited standard.

Next Steps
We will keep you updated throughout this journey via newsletters, parent sessions, and regular updates on our progress. We may also seek your feedback and support at various stages as valued members of our community.

We thank you for your trust and support. This is a shared journey — one that will deepen our school’s impact, elevate our standards, and ensure that Cambridge Academy Ethiopia continues to provide a truly world-class education.

With warm regards,
Mark Whitfield

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As you may be aware, the government is implementing a major corridor development program to improve traffic flow and safety across Addis Ababa. In line with this initiative, stopping, waiting, or parking along the main road adjacent to our school is strictly prohibited, as this area is designated for bus and taxi bays. Please note that violations are subject to strict enforcement and heavy fines by the city administration.
In the coming weeks, our city will also host several high-profile international conferences, including global climate and development summits at the Addis Ababa Convention Centre. To reduce congestion, the city administration has instructed schools and institutions in the area to guide parents and visitors to designated parking areas.
Accordingly, we kindly ask you to observe the following measures:
• No stopping or parking is permitted along the main road next to the school compound.
• Parents are kindly requested to use the designated parking areas provided by the city, located within a three-minute walk from the school. To ensure safety and convenience, our security team will accompany students and parents between the parking areas and the school. The designated spaces, situated near the playground adjacent to Medhanialem Church, can accommodate over 160 vehicles.
• Your cooperation during pick-up and drop-off times will help maintain smooth traffic flow, prevent congestion in this government designated parking area, and—most importantly—ensure the safety of our students.
• We understand that walking with young children may present challenges. Please plan accordingly and, if necessary, bring umbrellas or sun protection during hot weather.
• Should traffic flow delays be observed by the authorities during drop-off hours, the same procedures will apply. We will provide continuous updates as necessary.
For your peace of mind, as we are informed by the authorities, the designated parking area is monitored by CCTV and overseen by both city security and a member of our school’s security team.
We recognize that these adjustments may require additional effort. However, your support is essential to comply with government directives, avoid penalties, and ensure the safety and well-being of our students and community.
We sincerely thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued partnership in maintaining a safe and orderly school environment.
Warm regards,

The School Administration

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are delighted to begin the new academic year and welcome back so many of our students. It is always a pleasure to see our school community growing stronger each year.
This year, we are experiencing very high demand for admissions, and places in many year groups are now extremely limited. To ensure that every student has their place secured, we kindly remind all families who have not yet completed re-registration for the 2025–26 school year to do so without delay.

If your child attended our school last year, has not withdrawn, and has not yet re-registered or paid term 1 fees, please note that we cannot guarantee places will remain available unless re-registration is completed promptly.

To avoid disappointment, we encourage you to finalize re-registration immediately. Our Admissions Team is available to support you with any questions or outstanding matters.

We very much look forward to continuing your child’s educational journey with us.

Warm regards,

Mark Whitfield
