🇨🇳 The Ministry of State Security of China issued a warning: the collection of biometrics is a threat not only to privacy, but also to national security.

An example is a foreign project that scans the irises allegedly for the distribution of tokens.

It’s almost certainly about Worldcoin - they give out #WLD for scanning the eye in special Orb devices.

What is the risk?
➤ The iris is like a fingerprint: it is unique for each person.
➤ If this data is leaked, it cannot be «changed» like a regular password - it’s forever.
➤ Such data can be used to fake identity, hack biometric systems and even espionage.

The authorities urge not to submit biometrics unless absolutely necessary and to report suspicious initiatives

There are already precedents: Worldcoin is under investigation in France, Germany and Kenya.
