Currently missing from the matrix are large high-bypass turbofans and turboprops, which will most likely be indigenously achieved through the following roadmaps:
๐ High-Bypass Turbofans for Transport: India's high-bypass turbofans for MTA/HTA will be a scaled version of the 110โ120 kN low-bypass turbofan core (similar to the GE F101 core scaled into the CFM56 for 737 / A320, and Snecma M88 core evolved into SaM146)
๐ Turboprops: Early feasibility and design work are underway by CSIR-NAL and DRDO a turboprop engine for Saras MkII targeting 2035โ38, if sustained; in the interim, the Saras MkII aims for civilian certification by 2031 utilizing Pratt & Whitney test engines to speed up airframe validation.
