On the morning of March 15, dozens of activists carried beagles out of Ridglan Farms, a dog breeding facility near Madison, Wisconsin. They rescued the dogs because they were being used for medical research.

Images of the break-in spread fast. But for many, the shock wasn't only about the incident itself.

It was that dogs are being used in medical research at all.

Public Investigator looked into why dogs, and specifically beagles, are still being used and bred for research in Wisconsin and elsewhere.

How many dogs are used in research?
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's most recent report, 42,880 dogs were used in research facilities in 2024.

Of those, the vast majority were used in research that involved no pain or minimized pain. Around 400 were involved in experiments where pain was not minimized.

Dogs make up less than 6% of the animals used in research, according to the USDA. Guinea pigs, primates, rabbits and hamsters are far more common.


The USDA figure doesn't include dogs that were bred for research and are still being housed at breeding facilities.

Major Big Pharma companies PFizer and BioNTech have abruptly halted their latest COVID-19 mRNA “booster” trial because they literally couldn’t find enough willing participants. The company admitted it was “unable to generate relevant data” because recruitment had effectively hit a brick wall. Reuters obtained internal letters sent to trial investigators, where Pfizer said it had been forced to end its study of “updated” shots in healthy adults aged 50 to 64.

Americans realize we do not need another COVID booster, nor do we need an updated formulation for any COVID variants. No trial data, no product on the market. It is that simple.

Over 17 million Americans get a colonoscopy each year. Most are age 50-75 with no history of colon cancer.

It’s long been believed that a colonoscopy not only helps find cancer but also prevents cancer from developing from polyps. Colonoscopies are regarded as the gold standard for colon cancer screenings.

But are they effective? Researchers found an unexpected result in a recent major study. The Nordic-European Initiative on Colorectal Cancer (NordICC) study involving nearly 85,000 participants raised questions and suggested that colonoscopies don’t save as many lives as previously thought.
