Many airlines spray the planes' interiors with phenotrin, which the WHO approved and also which several countries require of airlines to defeat the #Zika virus.

#Phenotrin is associated with increased risk of liver cancer in rats and mice in long-term exposure. It is poisonous to cats and dogs, with seizures and deaths being reported due to poisoning.

The EPA has not assessed its effect on cancer in humans.
