Conclusion: "Both mRNA [COVID] vaccines approved to children were associated with reductions in the risk of COVID-19 and showed no difference in the risk of SAEs [Serious Adverse Events]. Among the older children, the vaccines were associated with a 3.5-fold higher risk of Severe AEs [Adverse Events]. Among children younger than 5 years of age, the mRNA vaccines were associated with an almost 3-fold higher risk of LRTI [Lower Respiratory Tract Infections] including RSV [Respiratory Syncytial Virus]. Given the low risk of severe COVID-19 infections in children, the RCTs [Randomized Controlled Trials] call for a renewed assessment of the value of COVID-19 vaccination of children and adolescents."

Meaning: "The results suggest that mRNA vaccines are associated with increased risk of severe adverse events and increased risk of LRTI, including RSV. Given the low risk of severe COVID-19 infection in children, it is not clear that the benefits of COVID-19 vaccines in children outweigh the harms."
