Every day we discuss this festive atmosphere with my students and sometimes feel lack of vocabulary.
Let’s revise some nice phrases.
🎄 We have already put up a Christmas tree.
🏠 We decorated our home with lights, tinsels and stockings.
🎁 Tomorrow I’m going to buy and wrap up presents.
🎶 Every day in December I cook and sing along to Christmas songs.
🥂 We’re meeting up with my ex-colleagues this weekend.
👨👩👦 We are all looking forward to our family get-together!

We usually rewatch our favorite Christmas and New Year films.
Why don’t you watch them in English?
Since you know the plot, you can just relax and enjoy English and the actors’ own voices!
❄️ You’ll find the list of my favorite winter films in the comments.
Feel free to add yours!

Christmas wishes
May your family have a holiday season that is full of wonderful surprises, treats and nonstop laughter.
Merry Christmas! May your happiness be large and your bills be small.
I'll miss celebrating with you this Christmas. Eat a few extra cookies for me!
I hope the holidays bring a chance to rest and recharge.
Romantic wishes:

Here is the first tree in the square in my residential area of Istanbul. Young girls in the family, who recently have got married , put up Christmas trees at home 🎄, but their parents still don’t do it.
The older generation just watch and smile or … mixes Christmas and New Year, considering both of them Christian holidays. They believe celebration of New Year is a sin.
However, once you enter a supermarket, you will see mountains of chips and soda. In bookstores you will be able to buy a bingo game, and in clothing stores you will definitely find a big variety of red underwear as a symbol of good luck in the New Year 😁
🎄How do you celebrate New Year in your place?

🎥🍿It’s high time to watch or rewatch holiday-themed movies and TV shows that are great for getting into the festive spirit and can also be a fun way for English language learners to practice their skills:
I’d like to share my favorite ones:
“Home Alone" (1990): A classic Christmas comedy about a young boy who defends his home from burglars after his family accidentally leaves him behind on their holiday vacation.
“Love Actually" (2003): A romantic comedy set in London during the Christmas season, following the interconnecting lives of several characters as they experience love in various forms.
“The Holiday" (2006): A romantic comedy where two women swap homes during the Christmas holidays to escape their relationship issues, only to find new romances.
“A Christmas Carol" (2009): An animated adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novel about Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly old man who is visited by spirits on Christmas Eve.
“The Christmas Chronicles" (2018): A family adventure film about two siblings who team up with Santa Claus for a holiday adventure after they crash his sleigh.
“Klaus" (2019): An animated Christmas comedy that reimagines the origins of Santa Claus through the story of a postman in a remote northern town.
“Jingle Jangle A Christmas Journey" (2020): A musical adventure set in the vibrant town of Cobbleton, following a legendary toymaker and his granddaughter who construct a magical invention.
