🖤Black Friday 🖤
🛍Black Friday refers to the day just after Thanksgiving in the US. Because so many companies have a four day weekend, many people begin their Christmas shopping on this day. Now it's common all over the world
🛍️ It is believed by many that the term Black Friday derives from the concept that businesses operate at a financial loss, or are “in the red,” until the day after Thanksgiving, when massive sales finally allow them to turn a profit, or put them “in the black.” However, this is untrue.
A more accurate explanation of the term dates back to the early 1960s, when police officers in Philadelphia began using the phrase “Black Friday” to describe the chaos that resulted when large numbers of suburban tourists came into the city to begin their holiday shopping and, in some years, attend Saturday’s annual Army-Navy football game. The huge crowds created a headache for the police, who worked longer shifts than usual as they dealt with traffic jams, accidents, shoplifting, and other issues.
🛍Black Friday is often reported as one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
🛍Shopping malls are packed with people, parking lots are crowded, and lines at stores are very, very long.
🛍Some stores even open at five or six in the morning because there are so many people. Other stores have discounts and sales to draw even more customers.

🗞️ The news is not necessarily about the politics and economics.
In Breakingnewsenglish.com you can read about very different things.
Here’s latest news in a nutshell
🐢We all like birthdays. Jonathan the tortoise just had his 190th birthday. He is the world's oldest land animal. He was born in 1832. Some scientists think Jonathan could be 200 years old. He was born in the Seychelles, before Britain's Queen Victoria became queen. He was here before the postage stamp. Jonathan had a good birthday. He had a three-day party, with a special vegetable birthday cake. He did not get to see this because he is blind. He also cannot smell. His ears are OK, so he could hear people singing "Happy Birthday". He also has lots of energy. He likes to stretch his legs and relax in the sun.

Hello there 👋
In the next few days we’re going to discuss how to motivate yourself to learn languages.
I’ll share some tips that work with me.
1️⃣ Have a Language Learning Plan
We are more likely to do what we have planned than something spontaneous.
So, try to do something every day.
Make your Monday a Grammar day and practise it on test-English.com.
Make your Tuesday a Listening day and listen to podcasts on elllo.org.
Make your Wednesday a Reading and Vocabulary day and choose a nice story to read on Essential English.
Make your Thursday a Hobby Day and do / research something you like in English, for example cook something delicious with Gordon Ramsay
Make your Friday a Movie Day and watch a nice film in the original.
Make your Saturday a Singing Day, sing your favorite songs and learn English on lyricstraining.com.
Make your Sunday a Writing Day, comment on Instagram posts, write a diary, practise free writing.
Make your every day a Speaking Day.
Join English Speaking Club, read out loud, record yourself!

2️⃣ Believe in Yourself
Your English Is Probably Better Than You Think It Is!
Do you ever find yourself saying or thinking things like…
“I make too many mistakes”
“I’m afraid to speak, because other people might not understand me.”
“I’ve been studying for ages, but my English is still bad.”
When I start speaking to my potential students, I realize their English is usually much better than they think.
Yes, of course there is room to improve.
But you already have good English skills, and I can understand your speaking.
Try to focus on what you CAN do, not what you can’t do yet.
Here’s a nice video on the topic to have a good laugh 😉

3️⃣ Never compare your English speaking skills to others’.
Don’t compare your beginning to someone else's middle, or your middle to someone else's end. Don't compare the start of your second quarter of life to someone else's third quarter.
Jon Acuff
Just focus on your progress.
