One hour until kickoff: We have lineups! Unfortunately, Thomas Tuchel has chosen not to start Mathys Tel for this one. Manchester City were the team that knocked Thomas Tuchel out of the Champions League last season, and the team didn’t really show what they were capable of in those games. Now it’s a chance for the coach to make some amends. Of course, a preseason game is nothing compared to an actual competitive fixture, but like Joshua Kimmich said, this is an amazing opportunity to see how the team will measure up against one of the best sides in world football. Of course, in the event that things go poorly ... the lead image on this article could turn out to be prophetic. While you’re waiting for the game, why not check out our podcast? Coach Thomas Tuchel noted that the heat of the Asian summer is affecting his players, but that’s no excuse for the languid performances we’ve seen these past couple of weeks. FC Bayern - Presentation of Harry Kane Photo by Sven Hoppe/picture alliance via Getty Images Yes, it’s time to look forward to 2024/25... As part of Bayern Munich’s Audi Summer Tour, the team will face Tottenham Hotspur twice in a span of seven days — once in South Korea and once in London: FC Bayern will play a friendly match against Tottenham Hotspur in South Korea during the 2024 Audi Summer Tour. The game will take place on 3 August at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, which has a capacity of 67,000. The encounter with the English Premier League club is part of the Coupang Play Series, in cooperation with Audi.FC Bayern’s popularity has steadily increased in South Korea, thanks in no small part to the signing of Minjae Kim. The influx of new fans and members from the region has been enormous since the national team defender signed last summer. The game against Tottenham in South Korea will therefore be a special one, since Spurs also boast a top South Korean player in Heung-min Son. Further details regarding ticket on-sale dates will be announced in due course.Bayern Munich will also face Tottenham in London this summer for a friendly as well: Enge Freunde treffen sich als Gegner

FC Bayern Muenchen Unveils Newly Signed Head Coach Vincent Kompany Photo by S. Mellar/FC Bayern via Getty Images Some surprising inclusions, and a few who are still injured. Bayern Munich are heading to South Korea, and the squad has just been announced! Vincent Kompany is taking a 26-man squad with him on this year’s edition of the Audi FCB Tour. The Bavarians will play against Tottenham Hotspur in Seoul, with both teams putting their local South Korean stars — Kim Min-jae and Son Heung-min — front and center. Here’s the full roster:Our squad for the #AudiFCBTour in is confirmed!#MiaSanMia #FCBayern pic.twitter.com/SYVqlNOaKm— FC Bayern (@FCBayernEN) July 31, 2024You may notice some key names missing. Well, here’s an explanation:Leroy Sané underwent a minor groin surgery after the Euros, and will not travel with the team. He has opted to stay back in Munich and focus on his recovery. Players who advanced to the later rounds of EURO 2024 — so Kingsley Coman, Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs de Ligt, and Harry Kane — are all still on vacation and will not travel to Asia with the team. Therefore, De Ligt’s absence has nothing to do with his rumored move to Manchester United, though said move could still take place. Alphonso Davies represented Canada at the latter stages of this year’s Copa America, and like the European internationals, is still on vacation. Again, this has nothing to do with his contract situation or his rumored move to Real Madrid. New signing Hiroko Ito misses out due to the foot injury he suffered on Sunday. New signing Michael Olise misses out as he is currently representing France at the Olympics. Additionally, just because someone traveled with the team to South Korea doesn’t mean they won’t leave this summer. Noussair Mazraoui is expected to complete a move to Manchester United, but until the deal goes through, he will join the rest of the team in preseason preparations. The same goes for players like Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, and Serge Gnabry — all of whom Bayern Munich are apparently open to selling this summer. Stay tuned for more updates!Looking for more thoughts and analysis of what is going on with Bayern munich during this offseason, plus a breakdown of the front office’s oddball transfer strategy and roster management? Frosinone Calcio v US Salernitana - Serie A TIM Photo by Giuseppe Maffia/NurPhoto via Getty Images What a tough break for the youngster... There is some bad news coming out of Bayern Munich camp — young attacker Arijon Ibrahimović has suffered a torn muscle and will be out for several weeks. FCBayern.com issued a statement on the youngster’s status:FCB attacker Arijon Ibrahimović will be sidelined for some time and will therefore not take part in the Audi Summer Tour in South Korea. The 18-year-old tore a muscle in the back of his left thigh in Wednesday’s final training session ahead of the trip. The diagnosis was confirmed after an examination by the FC Bayern medical unit. This is a very tough blow for Ibrahimović, who was supposed to be given an opportunity to compete for playing in the attack. Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) offered details on the extent of the injury:Arijon Ibrahimović will miss the rest of pre-season as well as the start of the new season. Depending on the severity of the muscle tear, the time off is estimated at 6 weeks at least. The boys are back in townGermany’s internationals hit the training pitch as Joshua Kimmich, Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer and Jamal Musiala were fully involved in training:Joshua Kimmich, Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer and Jamal Musiala have resumed team training today pic.twitter.com/hL5HuI4cFp— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) July 31, 2024One player who was — curiously — not in training was Leon Goretzka. FC Bayern Munich Audi Summer Tour 2024 In Asia Photo by F. Noever/FC Bayern via Getty Images Facing Spurs without Kane? What a shame. One hour until kickoff: We have lineups! It looks like a standard 4-2-3-1 from Vincent Kompany, with Mathys Tel and Thomas Müller starting up top for Bayern Munich. You have Serge Gnabry and Gabriel Vidović on the wings, Aleksander Pavlović and Joshua Kimmich are in midfield, while the back line consists of Sacha Boey, Josip Stanišić, Kim Min-jae, and Raphael Guerreiro. Only one question: Where’s Jamal Musiala?Die Startelf für unser Testspiel in Seoul gegen Tottenham! #AudiFCBTour #packmas #MiaSanMia pic.twitter.com/vjElcUHDNQ— FC Bayern München (@FCBayern) August 3, 2024Bayern Munich are in Seoul, South Korea, to play a preseason game vs a proper 1st division European team for the first time this summer. Fans are keen to see what Vincent Kompany can do now that most of the internationals — including key stars like Manuel Neuer, Jamal Musiala, and Thomas Müller — are back and available for selection. Still, this is far from a 100% fit squad, and the French and English players are still missing, so no Harry Kane. The aim of this friendly will be to test out the tactics and see what works and what doesn’t. Bayern Muenchen Training & Press Conference Photo by Han Myung-Gu/Getty Images Bayern Munich turned ina fun performance vs. Tottenham Hotspur in South Korea. Die Folgen: Bayern’s 2-1 victory Spurs (Bavarian Football Works)Bayern Munich brought a true energy on to the pitch against Tottenham Hotspur during its friendly in South Korea. The Bavarians would go on to capture a 2-1 victory, which featured a really fun playing style, aggressive attacking, and creative passing. In the end, it was a worthwhile investment of time for fans who were able to tune in. Let’s take a look at some quick hitters on the match: As always, let’s take a look at the starting lineup: STARTING XI

Here’s how we line up to take on Spurs in Korea! ⚪️#AudiFCBTour pic.twitter.com/F2OoXzHXVq— FC Bayern US (@FCBayernUS) August 3, 2024Jamal Musiala was a noticeable omission from the XI and while no concrete reason for his absence was released before the match, the FCBTV+ broadcast did say that Musiala was not yet back at full fitness (which is not wholly shocking). Otherwise, Vincent Kompany went with a mix of established stars and some players that he needs a closer look at. Kimmich featured as a central midfielder, Josip Stanišić played center-back (and was easily the better of the two starters), There was no true No. 9 in the starting XI. Bayern Munich came out playing a fast, fun, and creative style. One team looked like it was excited to be there, while the other squad looked very jet-lagged. A risky play by Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario resulted in a good chance for Serge Gnabry and while the winger could not convert, Gabriel Vidović corralled the rebound and calmly deposited the ball into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead in the 4th minute. It was a blazing start for the Bavarians. Tottenham Hotspur would eventually wake up...just a few minutes too late. Stanišić was a beast early on. Every time there was a breakdown, he was there to clear up the mess as a center-back. Gnabry had some really brilliant moments and was clearly playing with a purpose. It looked like he was a player fighting to prove himself and also battling for his job. Needless to say, the German looked revitalized. The starting attacking group of Gnabry, Vidović, Mathys Tel, and Thomas Müller was a lot of fun to watch and they were absolutely troublesome to deal with for Tottenham. While Bayern Munich did not rev its engine for the entirety of the first half, it was clear that this style of play under Kompany (if it can be sustained) will be far less conservative than it was under Thomas Tuchel. Bayern Munich’s high press was incredible.Aside of Gnabry, players like Tel, Vidović, and Stanišić did really well for themselves. If Bayern Munich is trying to unload Vidović, he helped the cause. As expected, Kompany went to his bench to start the second half as Leon Goretzka, Konrad Laimer, Sven Ulreich, João Palhinha, and Bryan Zaragoza entered the match. Palhinha immediately committed a foul, which might be an indication of the style of play he is ready to bring to Bavaria. Zaragoza had a great chance in the 53rd minute, but could not convert. That would have been big for the Spaniard. He definitely needs some work and fine-tuning, though. It is still hard to see how he will fit on the team or get any consistent playing time. In the 56th minute, Tel avoided the urge to play Zaragoza, who had drifted offside, and instead sent a nice ball to Goretzka, whose first attempt was saved. After gathering his own rebound, though, the midfielder deposited the ball into the net for a 2-0 lead. In the 60th minute, Sven Ulreich made a tremendous save to clean up a mess made by Eric Dier. Ulreich really seized that moment. Ulreich would eventually get beat by an absolute rocket of a shot from Pedro Porro in the 66th minute. What a laser! The final 25 minutes were an absolute free-for-all due all of the subs and to the wear-and-tear of the match overall. The players looked a bit cooked on both sides, which led to some wild swings of momentum.…
